  • Shelby Chapter welcomes Rothenburger

    Shelby Chapter #170, Order of the Eastern Star, welcomed Rob Rothenburger, Shelby County Judge Executive, to the February meeting. He briefly shared information pertaining to the Low-Income Heating Assistance Program. Ruth Ann Moffett, past matron (right) and Merlee Kile, worthy matron, present a check from the Shelby Chapter to assist with the heating program to Rothenburger.

  • 2014 Relay for Life Pageant

    The third annual Shelby County Relay for Life Pageant hosted by Team Fit for Life (Peggy's Posse) was Saturday at Shelby Christian Church. The net amount raised after the $250 scholarship to the Miss Relay winner was $4,135.58 for the American Cancer Society. The Relay for Life event will be held May 16-17 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the front lawn at Jefferson Community and Technical College.

  • Engagement: Wilborn-Williams

    Mark and Jeannie Wilborn of Bagdad announce the engagement of their daughter, Margo Paige Wilborn, to Corey Scott Williams. He is the son of Ryan Williams of Shelbyville and Tonya Hulak of Taylorsville.

    Wilborn graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is employed at Roll Forming Corporation as an executive administrative assistant and is currently residing in Richmond.

  • Engagement: Reigle-Hillebrandt

    Scott Reigle of Smithfield and Genny Reigle of Pleasureville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Allison Reigle of Smithfield, to Anthony Hillebrandt of La Grange. He is the son of Anthony and Jennifer of La Grange.

    She is employed by Michelle P. Waiver as a respite caregiver.

    He is employed by First Stop Urgent Care in La Grange as a medical assistant.

    An October 2014 wedding is planned at Grace Baptist Church in La Grange.

  • Waddy girl participates in NAM

    Abigail Lee Alexander of Waddy was chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Kentucky pageant, which is May 9-May 11 in Louisville for girls ages 7 through 9.

    Abigail, 9, participates in cheerleading, soccer, gymnastics and Girl Scouts and enjoys reading and writing. She is the daughter Lucy Alexander.

    Her sponsors are Margaret Armstrong, Valerie Alexander, Bobby Alexander and Noal Cotton Jr.

  • 30th anniversary: Gerald “Jerry” and JoJo Heltsley

    Gerald “Jerry” and JoJo Heltsley of Shelbyville have been married for 30 years. The couple was married on March 10, 1984, in Russellville.

    She is the former Josephine Broughton, a former member of Eastern Star and retired. She runs JoJo’s Karaoke Service in Shelbyville.

    He is a member of the Mason’s and works for Thornton’s Inc.

    They are members of Finchville Baptist Church.

  • Births: Bolin son

    Shane and Lisa Bolin of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a son, on Feb. 2, 2014 at Norton’s Suburban in Louisville. He has been named Christopher Charles Bolin.

    Grandparents are Wallace and Connie Bolin, Paul Donald and June Gilbert and Danny and Judy McCann, all of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparents are Thornton Ware of Shelbyville, Mary Gilbert of Quincy, the late Charles Whitcomb, Paul Gilbert, Tom McCann, Sarah Whitcomb Stamper, Wilena Ware, Lorraine Ware, Jeanette Bolin, and Corene and Justice Smith.
