  • Engagement: Rupert-Knopp

    Don and Katy Rupert of Shelbyville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Rupert, to Jeffery Knopp. He is the son of Anna Faye Knopp of Hodgenville and the late Ronnie Knopp.

    They graduated from the University of Louisville and met while working at UPS. Knopp is a revenue recovery supervisor at UPS, and Rupert is a paralegal at Pitt and Frank Attorneys in Louisville.

    The wedding will take place at 5:30 p.m. on June 21, 2014, at Highland Baptist Church in Louisville.

  • Wedding: Croley

    Stacey Anne Page and Christopher Shane Croley were married Sept. 28, 2013, at Finchville Baptist Church in Finchville.

    Parents of the bride are Marty and Rachael Page of Finchville. The groom is the son of Donald and Mary Virginia Croley of Georgetown. Grandparents of the bride are Jim Conti and Merilynn Page, the late Mary Catherine Conti and Harold and Delores May Page, all of Louisville. Grandparents of the groom are the late Norman Roy and Mary Wattie Crawford and Fred and Hazel Croley.

    Rev. John Babri officiated the ceremony.

  • Shelby family’s granddaughter top teacher
  • Birth: Miner daughter

    Christy and Joshua Miner of Finchville announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, on Aug. 24, 2013, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. She has been named Page MaryAnne Grace Miner.

    Grandparents are Marty and Rachael Page of Finchville and Dale and Marylou Miner of Freeport, Ill.

  • Engagement: Rivera-Curry

    Gary and Lisa Curry of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their son, Brenton Tyler Curry, to Alayna Rivera, both of Orlando, Fla. She is the daughter of Karyn Rivera of Orlando, Fla.

    She is graduate of the University of Central Florida and works in public relation at Florida Sun Pass. He is a graduate of Shelby County High School and Georgetown College and is a manager of a Porter Paint store.

    The wedding will take place at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2013, at Maitland Art Center in Maitland, Fla.

  • A Place To Sleep Workday

    Teenager Jessica Collins created A Place To Sleep to raise money to buy beds for children in Shelby County who don't have beds.

    She was inspired by the movie The Blind Side.

    A work day in Shelbyville on Saturday was successful.

  • NAACP Shelby County banquet

    University of Kentucky professor Gerald L. Smith was guest speaker Saturday night at the NAACP Freedom Fund banquet at the Shelbyville Country Club. About 60 people attended and heard  Smith speak  on the topic "We Can't Turn Back Now."

    Smith noted  some of the reasons throughout  history that African-Americans could look back and see how far they've progressed and challenged those in attendance to keep pressing forward and working to make the nation a better place for everyone.   
     

  • 50th anniversary: Joseph and Cecilia Piccini

    Joseph and Cecilia Piccini of Shelbyville have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on Oct. 26, 1963, in Newark, N.J.

    They have four children and eight grandchildren.
