  • Wedding: Nation

    Joyce Elainia King and Kenneth Wayne Nation were married May 21, 2011, at Pleasureville Baptist Church.

    Parents of the bride are General and Darlene Morgan of Frankfort. The groom is the son William and Roselee Nation of Shelbyville.

    Jerry Anderson officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father. Honor attendant was Brittany Herrell of Frankfort, daughter of the bride.

    Best men were Wayne and Austin Nation of Shelbyville, sons of the groom.

  • Shelbyville street party winners

    The winner of the 2011 Downtown Planter contest was Shelbyville Antique Market. During the street party concert on Saturday, winners of gift certificates in a drawing were  Martha Rodgers, first place, Nancy Cook, second place, and Ron Wilson, third place.

  • 50th anniversary: Wayne and Betty Cheak

    Wayne and Betty Cheak were married on June 9, 1961. The Rev. Jimmy Smith performed the ceremony at Waddy Baptist Church, where they are members.

    They have two sons, Jeffery Wayne Cheak of Appleton, Wis.,  and Andrew Scott Cheak of Stafford, Va.; six grandchildren, Alexandria Cheak of Tucson, Ariz., Victoria and Addison Cheak, both of Appleton, Wis., Madison, Jonna and Noah Cheak, all of Stafford, Va.

    They will celebrate with a reception at Waddy Baptist Church 2-5 p.m. on June 11. Everyone is invited to stop by and visit. The Cheaks request no gifts.

    Levi Roy Farmer celebrated his first birthday May 10, 2011.

    He is the son of Jessica Tennill and David Farmer of Shelbyville.

    Grandparents are Margaret Biagi Tennill of Shelbyville, Donald Tennill of Frankfort and Terry and Roy Farmer of Henderson. Great-grandparents are Wilma Biagi of Louisville, Donald and Barbara Tennill of Shelbyville, Wilma Farmer of Henderson and the late Hugh Biagi.

    Army National Guard Pvt. Scott E. Gaines graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Ga. The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training.

    Kent and Judy Hilferty of Madrid, Neb., announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Hilferty of Shelbyville, to Micheal Turner of Frankfort. He is the son of Kenny and Venita Turner of Frankfort.

    Hilferty is a 2004 graduate of Wheatland Public School in Madrid and a 2006 graduate of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Neb., where she earned an associates of applied science degree in veterinary technology, with an emphasis in Equine Care. She is an internal medicine veterinary technician at Louisville Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Services
