    Heather and Ryan Price of Shelbyville announce the birth of their fourth child, a son, on Sept. 27, 2011 at Baptist East. He has been named Kingston Levi Price.

    Grandparents are Lynn and Jim Price of Shelbyville, Loretta Longley of Shelbyville, Beverly Greenwell of Frankfort and the late Richard Greenwell.

    Great-grandparent is Marjorie Price of Shelbyville.

    Thurman daughter
    Phil and Allison Thurman of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Sept. 20, 2011 at Norton Suburban Hospital. She has been named Mollie Grace Thurman. She was born at 4:47 p.m., weighing six pounds and three ounces and was 17.5 inches in length.
    Grandparents are Tim and Julia Higgins of Simpsonville, Chuck and Sue Thurman of Lawrenceburg.
    Great-grandparents are Marvin Highfill of Louisville, Arnold and Jeanette Thurman of Shelbyville, Fred and Nancy Herrington of Rehoboth Beach, Del.

  • Reunion: Waddy High School

    Alumni of Waddy High School gather Saturday in Waddy for their 50th reunion. This was the last class when the school was closed after spring 1960. Shelby County High School opened in the fall of 1960, and the old county schools were repurposed.

    Kate and Josh Thacker were married Sept. 10, 2011 in Finchville.

    Parents of the bride are Mark Sexton and Molly O’Hara of Manhattan, Kan. The groom is the son of Denver and Wanda Thacker of Pikeville.

    Rev. Sharon Daily officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by Mark Sexton.

    Maid of honor was Annabelle Sexton of Manhattan, Kan., sister.

    Bridesmaids were Molly Sexton, sister, and Anna Brockson, best friend, both of Manhattan, Kan.

    Best man was Chris Aldridge of Louisville, friend.

  • A casino conversation

    Julia Belcher and Jacob Waford listen as a classmate pretends to be either the sponsor of a bill, an opponent of the bill or a representative of the casino industry. Rep Brad Montell, led the lesson on how a bill becomes a law for West and East middle students heading to the Kentucky Youth Assembly. After the facts were presented and the arguments raised, West voted down the bill that would place slot machines at Kentucky race tracks.

  • 70th anniversary: Frances and John Joseph Moran Jr.

    Frances and John Joseph Moran Jr. have been married for 70 years. The couple was married on Oct. 25, 1941, at St. Brigid's Church by William Griesbaum.

    He retired in 1982 after 46 years of service as an electrician.

    She, the former Frances Griesbaum, is a homemaker.

    They are members of St. Michael Parish
