  • Simpsonville: King and queen crowned

    Lilly Roadcap and Keaton Sanford-Baird were crowned queen and king of the Simpsonville Fall Festival. They are members of the Shelby County 4-H Dairy Club and students at Simpsonville Elementary. Lilly is the daughter of Steve and Lisa Roadcap, and Keaton is the son of Vicky Sanford-Baird and Keith Baird.

  • Engagement: Spaulding-Smith

    Barbara and Victor Ray Fallis of Pleasureville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Julia Dawn Spaulding of New Castle, to Anthony Lee Smith of New Castle. He is the son of Doug and Cindy Smith of Bagdad.

    She is a 2003 graduate of Cornerstone Christian Academy and is pursuing a career in nursing.

    He is a 2001 graduate from Shelby County High School and a 2010 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in horticulture.

  • Engagement: Raeuchle-Madden

    Kenneth Raeuchle of Louisville and Sharon Fowler of Taylorsville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Karie Raeuchle of Louisville, to Donnie Madden of Shelbyville. He is the son of Darrell and Barbara Waits of Shelbyville.

    She is a graduate of Spencer County High and currently resides in Louisville. He is a graduate Shelby County High and lives in Louisville.

    The wedding will take place at 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 15, 2011, at New Hope Church in Shelbyville.

  • Engagement: Milburn-Norton

    Angela Milburn of Mount Eden and Pete and Donna Milburn of Coxs Creek announce the engagement of their daughter, Shana Milburn of Mount Eden, to Jared Norton of Elizabethtown. He is the son of Bob and Judy Norton of Elizabethtown.

    Milburn is a 2001 graduate of Cornerstone Christian Academy and a 2010 graduate of Kaplan University. She is employed at the state medical examiners office. Norton is a 2000 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is employed at Budget Car Sales in Muldraugh.

    The wedding will take place in October in Bardstown.

  • 50th anniversary: Albert and Lillie Duncan

    Albert and Lillie Duncan were joined in marriage on Sept. 9, 1961. Peggy Hedges McCray and William Bernice Hedges stood together with them as they began this journey in their lives. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends with a simple get together given by her son and daughter.

    Albert Duncan is retired from Process Paint Company. and Lillie is a homemaker. He bowls and spends time with his family, and she quilts and crochets. They are members of Simpsonville Baptist Church.

  • Timberlake promoted to brigadier general

    Craig Q. Timberlake, a graduate of Oldham County High School class of 1977, was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the United States Marine Corps on Sept. 2.

  • 50th anniversary: Joyce and Leon Creech

    Leon and Joyce Creech celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 18, 2011, at their home with family and friends. They were married Sept. 16, 1961, at David’s Fork Baptist Church in Lexington. They have three children, Cheryl Kersey, Scott Creech and Sarah Embry. They also have two grandchildren, Kyle Kersey and Chris Embry.

  • I'm one: Collin Dale Sloan

    Collin Dale Sloan celebrated her first birthday Aug. 30, 2011.

    He is the son of Chad Sloan and Chaye Sloan, both of Henry County.

    Grandparents are Roger and Jean Sloan of Bagdad, Donald Ingram of Henry County and the late Irene Ingram. Great-grandparents are Billie Sloan of Bagdad and Josephine Ingram of Shelbyville.

  • SCHS Homecoming court

    Shelby County High School will celebrate Homecoming on Friday and will crown a queen during halftime of the Rockets' game against Oldham County.
