  • SCCT Fall Fantasy

    Shelby County Community Theatre presented The Fall Fantasy, its annual fundraiser, on Saturday night at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville. All proceeds from the dinner/dance and auction go to benefit the theater.

  • McGuire grandsons

    Four grandsons of the late Charles Edward McGuire, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, gathered to the plant and raise a flag in his honor. McGuire was wounded during a battle in the Pacific. J. Clay Cull (from left), former Marine Cpl. Robert Riggs II, First Sgt. Abraham M. Blessinger and Charles Joshua Cull were on hand. Mark A. Blessinger and LaMar Edward Hundley II were unable to attend. Blessinger recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan.

  • Revolutionary War soldier’s grave dedicated

    The Kentucky Society Sons of the American Revolution conducted a Patriot Grave Marking and Dedication service Oct. 22 for Revolutionary War soldier Pvt. Micajah Neal, who lived from 1753 to 1835.

  • Wedding: Warncke

    Shelley Diane and David Isaac Warncke were married June 4, 2011 at the Hurstbourne Country Club outside at the alter area.

    Parents of the bride are Robert and Marcia Biagi of Shelbyville. The groom is the son of Rich and Karen Warncke of Freehold, NJ.

    Robert Mueller officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Robert Biagi.

    Maid-of-honor was Laura Biagi of New York City (formerly of Shelbyville), sister of the bride.

  • Birth: Price son

    Heather and Ryan Price of Shelbyville announce the birth of their fourth child, a son, on Sept. 27, 2011 at Baptist East. He has been named Kingston Levi Price.

    Grandparents are Lynn and Jim Price of Shelbyville, Loretta Longley of Shelbyville, Beverly Greenwell of Frankfort and the late Richard Greenwell.

    Great-grandparent is Marjorie Price of Shelbyville.

    Thurman daughter
    Phil and Allison Thurman of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Sept. 20, 2011 at Norton Suburban Hospital. She has been named Mollie Grace Thurman. She was born at 4:47 p.m., weighing six pounds and three ounces and was 17.5 inches in length.
    Grandparents are Tim and Julia Higgins of Simpsonville, Chuck and Sue Thurman of Lawrenceburg.
    Great-grandparents are Marvin Highfill of Louisville, Arnold and Jeanette Thurman of Shelbyville, Fred and Nancy Herrington of Rehoboth Beach, Del.

  • Reunion: Waddy High School

    Alumni of Waddy High School gather Saturday in Waddy for their 50th reunion. This was the last class when the school was closed after spring 1960. Shelby County High School opened in the fall of 1960, and the old county schools were repurposed.
