  • Wedding: Kristen Suzann Holloway and Casey Martin Page

    Kristen Suzann Holloway and Casey Martin Page were married May 24, 2014, at Highland Baptist Church, with Pastor Jay Tigner, officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Richard and Danea Holloway of Finchville, and the groom is the son of Marty and Rachael Page of Finchville. Grandparents of the bride are David and Henrida Holloway and Janice Hightower. Grandparents of the groom are Jim Conti and Merilynn Page, and Harold and Dolores May Page, all of Louisville, and the late Mary Catherine Conti.

  • Wedding: Lydia Bell Thomas and David Lee Sherrer

    Lydia Bell Thomas of Shelbyville and David Lee Sherrer of Louisville were married May 25, 2014, at Chenoweth Farmon Cropper Road.

    Parents of the bride are Ted and Beth Thomas of Shelbyville. The groom is the son of Joseph and Freeda Sherrer of Phenix City, Ala.

    Rev. Bill Smith officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by Ted Thomas, father of the bride.

  • Workers thanked and needed

    The Shelby County Cemetery Preservation Board was thrilled with the turnout in July to clean the Pioneer Logan Cemetery on Brunerstown Road. Spokesperson Linda Pack Clemmons said another restoration day is scheduled for August 16 starting at 9:00 a.m. She advises volunteers to wear appropriate clothing and bring plenty of fluids/snacks.   • Street party gift certificate winners

    William Adams won $300 in gift certificates at the Shelbyville Street Party on Saturday, and Shmila Morris won $200 in gift certificates. Also in the photos are Hubie Pollitt (left) and Mayor Hardesty (right).

  • Wedding: Shaw

    Miranda Cox and Zachary Shawwere married on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Jeffersontown Christian Church in Louisville.

    Parents of the bride are Darrell and Carol Cox of Bagdad. She is the granddaughter of Harold Cox and the late Shirley Cox and Frank Kane and the late Doris Jean Lewis. The groom is the son of Richard and Tamera Shaw of Cropper. He is the grandson of the late James and Vivian Shaw and the late George Robison and Betty Sue Stethen-Crabb.

  • Downtown Jubilee Cruise

    The car cruise had 112 autos during the downtown Jubilee Cruise and Shelbyville concert series. The next Shelbyville concert will be Aug. 23 and the Sept. 13 event will include the car cruise.

  • 103rd birthday

    Edna Devers celebrated her 103rd birthday on July 24. She is a native of Shelby County, having lived here all her life. A resident of the Masonic Home of Shelbyville, she celebrated in the Garden Café. If you ask her how she lived to be 103, she would say “It Beats Me” and “Only God knows for sure.”

  • 45th anniversary: John T. and Rosie Montgomery

    John T. and Rosie Montgomery are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary. The couple was married on July 26, 1969 at Highland Baptist Church in Shelbyville. 

    John is a retired U.S. Postal worker and Rosie is retired from Bell South. Both are long-standing members of Burks Branch Baptist Church.

    They have three children, Angela Carter of Bagdad, Chris Montgomery of Frankfort and J.J. Black of Southville; 6 grandchildren, Michaela and Mackenzie Black, Keelynn and Johnna Carter, and Wyatt and Colten Montgomery.

  • 50th anniversary: Richard and Gladys Daily

    Richard and Gladys Daily have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on July 18, 1964, in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

    They are both retired. He had owned his own drywall business.

    They are the parents of Rick (Janie) Daily and Robin (Lee) Duncan; and have two grandchildren, Lauren and Logan

  • 60th anniversary: Don and Kay White

    Don and Kay White have been married for 60 years. The couple was married on July 25, 1954 by Rev. Rhea Gray in Lynn Acres Baptist Church in Louisville.

    He is a retired business owner and enjoys writing poetry.

    She is retired from the Shelbyville Municipal Water and Sewer Commission.

    They are members of Shelbyville First Baptist Church and have two children, David White of Frankfort and Dan White of Shelbyville, and four grandchildren.
