  • Engagement: Malan-O’Malley

    Jamee Malan and Mark O'Malley of Indianapolis, Ind., announce their engagement to be married.

    She is the daughter of Swuiheng Ma and Xinfeng Zhou of Henan China, and Sandee and Robert Redman of Wadesville, Ind.

    He is the son of Sue and Jim O'Malley of Mount Eden.

    A fall wedding is planned in Shelbyville.

  • Meet and greet

    Mattie Roach, Miss Shelby County Fair 2015, attended a Meet and Greet with Gov. Steve Beashear during the opening day ceremonies and opening reception last month at the Kentucky State Fair.

  • Engagement: Quire-Langley

    Christine Quire of Bagdad announces the engagement of her daughter, Karol Quire of Bagdad, to Bruce Langley. He is the son of Doug and Robin Langley of Shelbyville.

    She is the daughter of the late Rick Quire. She is a graduate of Jefferson Community and Technical College with a degree in business administration, and is employed with Shelby County Public Schools. 

    He is a 2012 graduate of Western Kentucky University and is a self-employed farmer and business owner.

    A May 2016 wedding is planned. Formal invitations will be sent.

    The Waddy High School Class of 1953 met for a reunion at Claudia Sanders' Dinner house on Aug. 21.     The Waddy High School class of 1952 met at Claudia Sanders' Dinner House on Aug. 1 for a reunion. Present were (from left) Betty Jean Cook Nethery, Tommy Webb, Dove Rogers Quire, Lois Milton Marston, Mitchell Nethery, Colleen Burke Nelson.

  • Birth: Swigert son

    Mike and Tammy Swigert of Shelbyvilleannounce the birth of their second child, a son, on July 23, 2015, at Baptist Hospital East. He has been named Matthew David Swigert. He was born at 10:19 a.m., weighing 9 pounds and 9 ounces and 20.5 inches long. He has one brother, 8-year-old Dale.

    Grandparents are Judy and Virgil Brooks of DryRidge, and Mike and Janell Swigert of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparent is Norma Swigert.

  • 40th anniversary: Wayne and Linda Miller

    Wayne Miller and Linda Anderson have been married for 40 years. The couple was married on Sept. 6, 1975, at Eminence Baptist Church by Pastor Bill Blackburn.

    They are member of Dover Baptist Church.

    They celebrated with their two children, Maranda Miller and Christopher Miller, and his wife, Nikki.

  • Birth: Summitt daughter

    Steven and Denise Summitt of Shelbyvilleannounce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on June 27, 2015, at Baptist Health. She has been named Jordyn Faith Summitt. She was born at 5:10 a.m., weighing 7 pounds and 15.4 ounces and 19 inches long.

    Grandparents are Jim and Kim Raper of Cox’s Creek, Theresa Hedden of Shelbyville, Steve and Holly Summitt, Dean Moffett and Mary Rose, all of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparents are Hazel Summitt and Alice Ryan.
