  • 45th anniversary: James and Judy Hamilton

    James and Judy McAllister Hamilton of Lexington have been married for 45 years. The couple was married on Dec. 30, 1966, at First Christian Church in Shelbyville.

    They are the parents of Andrew and Sylvia Hamilton of Apex, N.C., and Stuart and Lin Hamilton of Finchville; and grandparents of Steven Hamilton of Apex and Cameron and Scott Hamilton of Finchville.

    They celebrated with a trip to Opryland in Nashville, where they saw the Rockettes and took a dinner cruise on the General Jackson Showboat.

    Sullivan daughter

    Blake and Ginny Sullivan of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Dec. 4, 2011 at Norton Suburban Hospital. She has been named Avery Karsyn Sullivan. She was born at 11:25 a.m., weighting 7 pounds and 13 ounces, and 19 ½ inch tall.

  • Celebrating in Hawaii

    Family members of Ed Puckett and Kim Copas help celebrate their marriage in November by enjoying the Old Lahiana Luau on the island of Maui in Hawaii.   • Christmas with the Monarchs

    The fabulous Monarchs kept the crowd of more than 80 entertained and on the dance floor during the fifth annual Spirit of Christmas Dance at the Shelbyville Country Club Lodge. The dance, which was a benefit for Corpus Christi Academy in Simpsonville, included a reverse raffle, with the $3,000 being won by Tim Crawford of Shelbyville.

  • 50th anniversary: Wanda L. Crisp Slone and Crandell L. Slone Sr.

    Wanda L. Crisp Slone and Crandell L. Slone Sr. of Shelbyville, formerly of Allen, celebrated their golden anniversary on Dec. 2, 2011, with a barbecue buffet at the Stratton Community Center, drawing family and friends from Woodbridge, Va., Raleigh N.C., Eastern Kentucky, Northern Kentucky and surrounding counties.

    Crandell Slone retired from his duties as a Kentucky State Police trooper in April 1991 after more than 23 years and in November 2001 from his duties as a KSP civilian-certified license examiner in Louisville.

  • 65th anniversary: Gene and Virginia Yeager

    Gene and Virginia Yeager celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 7, 2011.

    They were married on Dec. 7, 1946, at the home of the Rev. Jack Curry in Louisville.

    The Yeagers are long-time Shelby County residents, having lived in and around Shelby County for their entire marriage. He was a dairy and tobacco farmer and an employee of Southern of States. In addition to raising three children, she worked as a store and restaurant clerk in several Shelby County locations.

  • 65th anniversary: Gene and Virginia Yeager

    Gene and Virginia Yeager celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 7, 2011.

    They were married on Dec. 7, 1946, at the home of the Rev. Jack Curry in Louisville.
