  • Chesser wedding

    Suebeth and Tyler Chesser were married Sept. 3, 2011, at Pleasant Hill Christian Church.

    Parents of the bride are Tommy and Sue Newton of Waddy. The groom is the son of Darvin Chesser of Taylorsville and Carolyn Reynolds of Versailles.

    Rev. Roy Temple Jr. officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

    Maid of honor was the sister of the bride, Tammy Brewer of Hebron.

    Bridesmaids were the bride’s sisters, Heaven Newton and Brittany Newton, and sister-in-law Lani Newton, all of Waddy.

  • Christmas with the Monarchs

    Corpus Christi Academy will host its fifth annual Spirit of Christmas Dance, featuring the Monarchs, on Saturday at the Shelbyville Country Club lodge. Doors will open at 8:15 p.m., and dancing will be 9 p.m. to midnight. A full cash bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be available. Tickets are $50 per couple or $30 for singles. Seating is limited. Call 722-8090 for reservations. The Monarchs keep the crowd of 146 entertained and on the dance floor during the Spirit of Christmas Dance at the Shelbyville Country Club in 2009.

    Andrea Travis and Matt Schedler were married July 23, 2011, at Anchor Baptist Church in Lexington.

    Parents of the bride are Roger and Alisa Travis of Shelbyville. The groom is the son of Jim and Debbie Schedler of New Brunswick, Canada.

    Rev. Billy Betts officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Roger Travis.

    Matron of Honor was Kara Mudd of Louisville, sister of the bride.

  • Historical award

    Kentucky Historical Society Executive Committee President Sheila Mason Burton (far left) poses with members of the volunteer team that was honored recently with the Volunteer Group Award for 2011 by the KHS for their work on the “Skirmish near Simpsonville” memorial site on U.S. 60 just west of Simpsonville.     Emma Rae Berry celebrated her first birthday Nov. 4, 2011.

    She is the daughter of Brandon and Ellen Berry of Bagdad.

    Grandparents are Mike and Phyllis Bailey of Bagdad and Deanie Quire of Shelbyville. Great-grandparents are Stewart and Irene Waits of Frankfort.

    The family of Louise Carter Gash will host an open house in honor of her 90th birthday 2-4 p.m. on Saturday at Fox Creek Christian Church's Fellowship Hall, on U.S. 62 in Lawrenceburg. Family and friends are invited, but no gifts, please.

  • Private Christian A. Lentini

    Private Christian A. Lentini graduated Nov. 18 from the United States Marine Corps 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at Parris Island, S.C.

    He is the son of Michael and Shirley Lentini, and grandson of Eugene and Laura Ritchey and Sony Lentini, all of Shelby County, and the late Juanita Lentini.

    Lentini is a 2011 graduate of Collins High School.

  • Engagement: Franklin-Baker

    Bryan and Barbara Franklin of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Kimberly Ann Franklin of Shelbyville, to Jordan Thomas Baker of Shelbyville. He is the son of Scott and Diana Baker of Shelbyville.

    The wedding will take place at 5 p.m. March 24, 2012, at  Clay Street Baptist Church

    Jolee Anne Hughes will celebrate her first birthday Dec. 3.

    She is the daughter of John Joseph Hughes IV and Kera Lynn Hughes, both of Shelbyville. Her older sister is Madison Lynn.

    Grandparents are Dennis and Rhonda Hudspeth of Bagdad, John Hughes Jr. of Shelbyville and Sharon Kay Hughes of Dawson Springs. Great-grandparents are Shirley Melton of Dawson Springs, Anna Hughes of Springfield, Ill., and the late Russell Melton and Bridget Ruble-Carey.
