    Rende and Candace Mershon of Frankfort announce the engagement of their daughter, Katy Mershon, to Jesse Dale, the son of Kenny and Beth Dale of Stover, Mo.

    She is a graduate of Shelby County High School and University of Kentucky and works with Veterans United Home Loans in Stover.

    He is a graduate of Morgan County R-1 High School and University of Central Missouriand works with Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

  • Memorial jazz concert

    Former students of three of Shelby County’s musical teachers perform at the Ernie Threlkeld/Susie Saunders/Mel Owen Memorial Jam on Saturday in Mike Casey Gymnasium at Shelby County High School. The session also included ensemble groups from Collins High School and SCHS and benefitted those schools’ music programs.

    Don and Brenda Richardson announce the engagement of their daughter Courtney Allison Richardson to Philip Cameron Sturgill, son of Ken and Leslie Sturgill, all of Georgetown.

    She is the granddaughter of Lucille Stucker of Shelbyville, the late Gilbert Stucker, the late Howard Richardson and the late Hazel Richardson. He is the grandson of Tom Sturgill, D.J. Fendley, the late Pat Sturgill and the late Ken Fendley.

  • Shelby dog wins in Gettysburg

    Joe and Kay Krug, of Shelbyville stand with Desert, a greyhound-mix, who won first place for best Civil War costume and Best of Show during the 15th annual Greyhounds in Gettysburg at the Allstar Expo Center. The 3-day event organized by Nittany Greyhound will raise about $20,000 for future adoption of greyhounds from a shelter in western Pennsylvania.

    Alison Kendall Puleo celebrated her first birthday April 2, 2013.

    She is the daughter of Melissa Kendall and Joey Puleo of Shelby County.

    Grandparents are Joseph and Connie Kendall of Cropper, Charlie and Rosa Puleo of Henderson, Nev. Great-grandparents are Clarence and Zona Patterson of Finchville.

  • Opening day for farmers’ market

    The Shelby County Farmers’ Market opened Saturday at the Shelby County Fairgrounds, and there was plenty of activity. 

  • Plants for sale

    The Shelby County Master Gardeners’ annual Plant Sale moved to the Shelby County Extension Office on Saturday. Organizer Carolyn Brenner called the event, which previously had been staged at the Shelby County Fairgrounds, a “huge success.”
