  • 50th anniversary: Owen Dempsey and Linda Lane Humphress

    Owen Dempsey and Linda Lane Humphress of Simpsonville will celebrate 50 years of marriage on March 25. They were married on this date in 1966 at Fern Creek Baptist Church in Louisville.

    He retired from GE in 1991 and she worked at GE, Wilson Mfg. and Whitehouse Painting.

    They have one son, Glenn Owen Humphress (Tonda), Lincoln, Neb., and three grandchildren, Rebecca, Cassandra and Alexander. They are members of Simpsonville United Methodist Church.

  • 50th anniversary: Sharon and David Ganote

    Sharon and David Ganote of Shelbyville have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on March 5, 1966in Highview, Louisville.

    He is a retired building contractor.

    She is a receptionist at city hall in Frankfort

  • 60th anniversary: Ted Lewis Igleheart and Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Craig

    When Ted Lewis Igleheart and Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Craig met in college both were heavily involved with others, but soon found their way together.

  • Wedding: Dollie Mae Heady and William Daniel Brown

    Dollie Mae Heady and William Daniel Brown, both of Shelbyville,were married Oct. 24, 2015 at the Mount Eden Ruritan Club.

    Parents of the bride are Paula Heady And Robert Heady from Taylorsville. The groom is the son of Ricky Brown from Bagdad and Leann Carey from Shelbyville.

    Paula Kiperofficiated the ceremony.

  • 5 generation: Shubert

    Five generations of the Shubert family gathered recently for a photograph. Pictured are (from left) Kay Russell, Mae Shubert holding Grayson Ellis, Shenoah Ellis and Seb Ellis.

  • Scouting for food

    Boy Scout Troop 270 helped stock the Bagdad Food Pantry during their annual food drive. Troop 270's charter organization is Bagdad Baptist Church.

  • Guatemalan students at Cornerstone

    Cornerstone Christian Academy hosted two Guatemalan exchange students for 10 weeks before Christmas break. Marco Guay, ninth grade, and Ernesto Castellanos, tenth grade, stayed with two of our families and attended classes at Cornerstone during their visit to the United States.

  • Engagement: Shipley-Edelen

    Todd and Michelle Shipley of Shelbyvilleannounce the engagement of their daughter, Kelsi Faye Shipley of Shelbyville, to Andrew Edelen of Vine Grove. He is the son of Larry and Margarita Edelen of Vine Grove.

    They are both graduates of Western Kentucky University. She is teaching and coaching in Spencer County. He is completing his masters of music at Ohio University.

    The wedding will take place 6:30 p.m. on July 2, 2016 at Shelby Hills Farm.

  • Martinsville club gives back for the holidays

    On December 23 the Martinsville Family Club gave back to the children in the community. Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by St. John’s United Methodist Church to bring the children gifts and take pictures taken with them. There was also food and entertainment for the children.

  • Harley wedding: Kaylan Jackson and Eric Harley

    Kaylan Jackson and Eric Harley, both of Brownsburg, Ind., were married Oct. 17, 2015, at Princess Hall in Indianapolis, Ind.

    Parents of the bride are Darryll and Kristin Jackson of Brownsburg, Ind. The groom is the son of Jeff Harley and Kim and Mike Grilley of Shelbyville.

    Rev. Dave Charltonofficiated the ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Darryll Jackson.

    Maid of Honor was Kendra Jackson, sister of the bride.
