  • Engagement: Samples-McNew

    Michelle and Jack Samples of Bagdad announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly Elizabeth Samples to Benjamin John McNew. He is the son of Brian McNew of Indiana and Tammy McNew of Shelbyville.

    She is a graduate of Georgetown College.

    He is a graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College.

    Ben and Kelly were high school sweethearts and have been together for the past seven years.

    The wedding will take place Sept. 6, 2014, at Red Orchard Park.

  • 35-year SCHS reunion
  • 50th anniversary: Gilbert and Ruth Humphrey

    Gilbert and Ruth Humphrey of Shelbyville have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on Sept. 5, 1964 in Louisville.

    They are members of Catholic Church of the Annunciation. She is the former Ruth Cambron of Springfield, retired from Motor Coach Industry and is now a CASA volunteer. He is retired from Ford Motor Company.

    They have three children, Lisa Kaiser of Shelbyville, Rebecca Cook of Shelbyville and Karen Walker of Spencer County; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

  • Engagement: Kimbrel-Bond

    Rev. Billy Lee and Dr. Jane C. Kimbrel of Fort Valley, Ga. announce the engagement of their daughter, Catherine Lee Kimbrel to Marc Christopher Bond. He is the son of Jerry and Kathleen Bond.

    She is the granddaughter of Gwin Carver and Waunelle Kimbrel, both of Douglas, Ga. and the late Bruce Carver and Billy L. Kimbrel Sr. She graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising and is currently enrolled in the Master’s program at the University of Kentucky.

  • Waddy class of 1953 reunion

    The Waddy High School Class of 1953 held their reunion at Claudia Sanders Dinner House on August 22, 2014. Class members were (front row, from left) Donnie Bohannon, Jimmy Rice, Joyce Robinson Brumley, Shirley Watts Temple, Edith Wilson Webb; (second row) Gayle Marston, Helen Davis Miller, Peggy Perry Richardson, Edna Mae Perry, Mary Jane Kays Bolin, Wallace Jamison.

  • Armed Forces: Griffin appointed commander

    Lieutenant Colonel Anthony P. Griffin was appointed as the commander of the 4th Battalion, 413 Regiment, Forger Battalion at Fort Knox.

    He graduated from Shelby County High School in 1988 and received his bachelor science degree from the University of Kentucky, and his masters degree from University of Louisville. Griffin is the son of Bob and Katie Griffin of Todd’s Point.

  • Engagement: Armstrong-Zeppa

    Debbie and Robert Armstrong of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Adria Kristian Armstrong to Antonio Zeppa Jr. He is the son of Dawn and Antonio Zeppa of Prospect.

    She is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Nursing and is currently employed by Norton Suburban hospital in Louisville.

    He is a graduate of Indiana University, has a business marketing degree and is self-employed as the co-owner of Zeppa’s Lawn Service in Prospect.

    The wedding will be Oct. 10, 2014 in Louisville.

  • Engagement: Baker-Thomas

    Diana Baker of Shelbyville announces the engagement of her daughter, Jennifer Baker to William Thomas, both of Elizabethtown. She is the daughter of the late Scott Baker. He is the son of Keith and Terri Thomas of Elizabethtown.

    The wedding will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the Brown Hotel in Louisville.

  • Engagement: Long-Hampton

    Tony and Laura Ann Long announce the engagement of their daughter Deidre Long of Waddy to Justin Hampton of Shelbyville.

    He is the son of Regena Whitaker and Ronald Hampton. The wedding will be at 5 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2014 at the Reynolds Farm located on Elmburg Road in Shelbyville.
