    Jake and Megan Kirts of Louisville announce the birth of their first child, a son, on March 23, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital Louisville. He has been named Thatcher Aiden Kirts.

    Grandparents are Randy and Becky Kirts and Greg and Marian Biagi, all of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparents are Noble and Frances Roberts of Shelbyville, Virginia Stoner of Columbus, Ind., Russell and Retna Kirts of Columbus, Ind. and the late Richard Stoner.

  • Engagement: Fenwick-Long

    Michael and Judy Fenwick of Campbellsville announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Fenwick of Shelbyville, to Wesley Long of Shelbyville. He is the son of Glenn and Orissa Long of Shelbyville.

    Fenwick is a 2002 graduate of Taylor County High School and is a social service aide for the state.

    Long is a 2003 graduate of Shelby County High School and is a tech for Northwood Machine.

    The wedding will take place at 3:30 p.m. June 4, 2011, at Duncan Memorial in Floydsburg.

  • Luminary ceremony lights up Relay For Life

    Staff Writer

    A luminary celebration to honor those battling cancer will be held as part of the Relay For Life at 10 p.m. Friday at Collins High School.

    Candles will be lit in honor of or in memory of cancer patients and placed around the perimeter of the track.

    This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope and courage of the battle against cancer and it part of a national ceremony.

    The local Relay for Life begins 7 p.m. Friday and continues until 7 a.m. Saturday at Collins High School.

    Randy and Janie Watts of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Mallory Jane Watts of Shelbyville, to Craig Garrett Potter of Raleigh, N.C. He is the son of Karen Potter of Raleigh and Stephen and Sherry Potter of Fort Mill, S.C.

    Watts is a 2004 graduate of Shelby County High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Kentucky in music education and library science. Potter is a 2008 graduate of the University of Kentucky in music education.

    The wedding will take place June 25, 2011, at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Louisville.

    Jan and Bill Miles of Union, formerly of Shelbyville, announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Holly Anne Miles, to Brandon K. Moore. He is the son of Pam and Kevin Moore of Ceredo, W.Va. 

    Holly Miles is a 1999 graduate of Shelby County High School and a 2003 graduate of Marshall University, where she also obtained her master’s degree in 2005.  She is currently the chief development officer for the June Harless Center for Rural Educational Research and Development at Marshall University.

    Brad and Heather Price of Shelbyville announce the birth of their third child, a daughter, on April 9, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East. She has been named Lauren Blair Price.

    She has been named Lauren Blair Price. She was born at 11:26 p.m. weighing 5 pounds 8 ounces and 17 inches long. She has two brothers, Connor, 5, and Parker, 2.

    Grandparents are Donald and Barbara Hamilton of Shelbyville, Larry and Betty Price of Shelbyville. Great-grandparent is George Dennie of Shelbyville

    Joshua and Christy Miner of Louisville announce the birth of their first child, a son, born on April 5, 2011 at Baptist East Hospital. He has been named Caleb Joshua Miner. He was born at 11:01 a.m., weighing 6 pounds 1 ounce and was 18 inches long.

    Grandparents are Marty and Rachael Page of Finchville, Dale and Mary Lou Miner of Freeport, III. Great-Grandparents are Jim Conti, Harold and Merilynn Page, Dolores Page and Pauline Butler all of Louisville, and the late Mary Catherine Conti.
