  • 50th anniversary: Mary and Frank Figg

    Frank and Mary Figg of Shelbyville were married June 22, 1962, in Bethlehem. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Billy D. Marcum.

    Dr. Figg retired in 2007 after practicing veterinary medicine for 33 years. She is a retired human resources manager.

    They are the parents of Frank (Terresa) Figg of, Tampa Fla., Elizabeth Figg of Shelbyville and Martha (Tom) Galli of Rockwall, Texas. Grandchildren are Naomi Figg, Alannah Figg, Natalia Figg and Ryan Figg, all of Tampa, Fla.

    The couple will celebrate with family and friends at a reception in the fall.

  • 60th anniversary: Else and William E. Matthews

    Else and William E. Matthews of Shelbyville are observing their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on Friday, June 13, 1952, in the Martha-Mary Chapel in Greenfield Village, Mich.

    They have three children, William E. (Beau) Matthews (Sylvia), of Columbia, S.C., Ellen Oetinger (Pete) of Wallingford, Pa., and Bland Ballard Matthews (Marci) of Louisville. Their other daughter, Lisa Gaines Matthews, died in 2011 of complications from Multiple Sclerosis

    Austin and Hannah Hays, of Shelbyville, announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Thursday, May 30, 2012. She has been named Tate McKinley Hays. She weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce.
    Grandparents are Hite Hays of Shelbyville, Judy and Duvall Burk of Shelbyville, and Dennis and Yolanda Long of Shelbyville. Great-grandparent is Shelby LeCompte from Shelbyville.

  • Engagement: Floyd-Tucker

    Rickie and Kathy Floyd of Bagdad announce the engagement of their daughter, Holly Ann Floyd of Bagdad, to James Andrew Tucker of Shelbyville. He is the son of David Tucker of Simpsonville and Glenna Tucker of La Grange.

    Floyd graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in applied science and technology and is employed by Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Louisville as a registered radiologic technologist. Tucker is co-owner of Twin J. Farms LLC in Shelbyville and employed by Trumbo Farms in Simpsonville.

  • Wedding: Phillips

    Donald and Missy Browning Phillips were married on June 9, 2012, at the Apple Patch Chapel in Crestwood.

    She works for Apple Patch in Crestwood and is the daughter of Mike and Aline Mounce of Cincinnati and the late D.L. Browning of Perry Park.

    He works for Stockyard Farm and Dairy in Louisville and is the son of Barbara Phillips of Shelbyville and Donald and Marty Phillips of New Castle.

    The double-ring ceremony was presided over by chaplin Bobby King.

  • 2012 Shelby County Fair

    Winners in the 18-24-month-old baby show at the Shelby County Fair were Brandon Shannon for the boys and Khloe Croudep for girls; 12-18-month, Jaxon Brewer, boys, and Sadie Reed, girls; 6-12-month, Aiden Roberts, boys, and Maiya Payton, girls. Photos were not available for the 6-12-month category.

  • 60th anniversary: Stewart and Irene Waits

    Stewart and Irene Waits of Frankfort celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 14. They married June 14, 1952, in Frankfort. They have three daughters, Marilyn (George) Owens of Louisville, Phyllis (Mike) Bailey of Bagdad and Sandy (Ken) Phillips of Shelbyville; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The couple celebrated with their family.

  • Engagement: Amos-Ninichuck

    Jim and Darlene Amos of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Melodie Brooke Amos, to Steven Anthony Ninichuck. He is the son of Steve and Donna Ninichuck of Ohio. The wedding will take place on June 30 in Louisville.

  • Engagement: Stokes-Davis

    Debbie and Cubb R. Stokes of Fulton announce the engagement of their daughter, Natalie Reese Stokes of Fulton, to Terry Lynn Davis II of Shelbyville. He is the son of Kim Nutt and Terry Davis of Shelbyville.

    Stokes is a 2001 graduate of South Fulton High School, South Fulton, Tenn., and earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She is a trade operations specialist with Invesco Advisors, Inc. in Louisville.
