    Shelby County Roadrunners enjoyed an outing at the Shelbyville Country Club after competing in the Kentucky Derby Festival marathon/mini marathon in April.

  • Engagement: Hensley-Petrey

    Greg and Elizabeth Hensley announce the engagement of their daughter, Jaclyn Noel Hensley, to Kevin Franklin Petrey of Richmond. He is the son of Elva W. Petrey of Tennessee and the late Robert Franklin Petrey.

    She was the sister of the late Matthew “Moby” Hensley and granddaughter of the late Willis and Christine Burkhead and the late Rev. A.J. and Pauline Hensley.

    She is a registered nurse at the Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, and he is a purchase officer for Lockheed-Martin in Lexington.

    Army National Guard Spec. Alexander T. Barnett graduated from basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo.

    He is the son of William and Penny Barnett of South Gethsemane in Corydon, Ind., and grandson of Sue Walls of Taylorsville.

    He is a 2009 graduate of Shelby County High School and received an associate degree in 2012 from Kentucky Christian University in Grayson.

    Tate McKinley Hays will celebrate her first birthday May 30, 2013.

    She is the daughter of Austin and Hannah Hays of Shelbyville.

    Grayson Edward Lewis celebrated his first birthday on May 9, 2013.

    He is the son of Christina Newton and Steven Lewis, both of Shelbyville.

    Nellie Drury Garrison will celebrate her birthday from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Simpsonville Masonic Lodge. All friends and neighbors are invited.

  • No stopping ‘The Rev’

    Robert Marshall took on the job of school bus driver in what he thought was a temporary role. Forty years later, he is still behind the wheel for Shelby County Public Schools. Wright Elementary, where students are part of his daily route, wrote 40 postcards each month this school year to mark the occasion. Marshall said he is now transporting grandchildren of some original students. He is also a barber, helper with his wife’s catering business and minister of St. John and Allen Chapel United Methodist churches.

    Easton Levi Parrett celebrated his first birthday May 18, 2013.

    He is the son of Tiffany and Anthony Parrett of Shelbyville.

    Rende and Candace Mershon of Frankfort announce the engagement of their daughter, Katy Mershon, to Jesse Dale, the son of Kenny and Beth Dale of Stover, Mo.

    She is a graduate of Shelby County High School and University of Kentucky and works with Veterans United Home Loans in Stover.

    He is a graduate of Morgan County R-1 High School and University of Central Missouriand works with Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
