  • Shelbyville Horse 2012 Show Jubilee events

    Kickoff breakfast

    The Shelbyville Horse Show Jubilee kick off breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. July 26 at Undulata Farm. Ann-Blair Thornton, 2011 Miss Kentucky, will be the keynote speaker. Tickets are available at the offices at 316 Main St. in Shelbyville.

  • More baby winners at fair

    The winners of the 6- to 12-month-old baby show at the Shelby County Fair were Maiya Payton, daughter of Jennifer Payton; and Aiden Roberts, son of Amber and Ryan Roberts.

  • Birth: June 10, 2012

    Becky Foley and Simon Fink of Saint Joseph, Mo., announce the birth of their first child, a son, on June 10, 2012, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph. He has been named Julius Hart Foleyfink.

    Grandparents are Darwin and Shirley Foley of Shelbyville and Leon Fink and Susan Levine of Chicago.  Great-grandparents are Mary Whitehouse of Danville, Irv and Bea Fink of Indianapolis, the late J.H. Whitehouse and Harry and Julia Levine of Chicago.

  • Engagement: Wheeler-Price

    Kim Searcy and David Wheeler of Shelbyvilleannounce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Wheeler of Shelbyville, to Michael Price of Shelbyville. He is the son of Becky and Jerry Price of Shelbyville.

    She is the granddaughter of late Nancy and Tommy Wheeler and granddaughter of Nell Conley.

    He is the grandson of Ruby and Elzie Price of Bardstown and Pauline and Link Ball of Covertown.

    The wedding will take place at 4 p.m. Sept. 29, 2012, at Wheeler Farms.

  • Engagement: Brown-Dazey

    Darrell and Tara Brown of Waddy and Kevin and Kara Henry of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Kari Michelle Brown of Shelbyville, to Mark Richard Dazey of Winchester. He is the son of Richard and Deanna Dazey of Winchester.

    She graduated from the University of Louisville in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in sociology.

    He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2012 with a Master of Science in computer science and with a Bachelor of Science in computer science in 2009.

  • 50th anniversary: Samples

    Wilbert and Elsie Samples of Shelbyville have been married for 50 years. The couple was married June 27, 1962, in Shelbyville.

    They are the parents of Leigh and Aaron Johnson of Shelbyville and Tina and Randy Mallory of Austin, Texas. Grandchildren are Brittnee Johnson, Hannah Dominguez and PJ Dominguez; and great-grandchildren are Coulton and Marian Dominguez.

  • 100th birthday: Wilma (Granny) Gordon

    Friends and family in the community are invited to celebrate the 100th birthday of Wilma "Granny" Gordon at 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Simpsonville Community Center (old gym).

    She has lived in Todds Point since 1936. She is known by many people for her having worked at the Gleneyrie School cafeteria, the Todds Point Store and many years as a polling officer.

    She is the oldest member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and was active in the church until recent years.

  • Puckett reunion

    The descendants of Egbert Barnabus and Mary Bondurant Perkins Puckett gathered for a reunion June 30 at Shady Lane Farm on Cropper Road, home of Clifford and Mary Lloyd Puckett Farmer.

    There were 105 people attending from Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Arkansas and Arizona. There was a representative from every one of the original Puckett children besides Sybil and Emma, who did not marry, and Willena Tillman, who did not have children: Aline Harrold, Margaret Thompson, Martha Riddell, Frank, Jesse, Marshall, James and Powell.

  • 70th anniversary: Janet Burk and Leonard Wilson

    Janet Burk and Leonard Wilson of Shelbyville will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on July 4. The couple eloped in 1942, much to their parents’ dismay.

    They are the parents of Leonard B. Wilson, Gail Berry and Jane Carman, all of Shelbyville; and grandparents Hallie Carman.

  • Birth: Hudson son

    Chris and Chrissy Hudson of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a son, on June 5, 2012, at Norton Suburban Hospital. He has been named Isaiah Michael Hudson.

    Grandparents are Owen and Sue Bond of Cropper, Lasca Kisslinger of Shelbyville, Betty Hudson of Shelbyville and the late Clarence "Clyde" McClain and John Hudson.

    Great-Grandparents are Robert and Elizabeth Tipton of Waddy and Corine Shouse of Shelbyville.
