  • Engagement: Payton-Wilson

    Bobbie Smith of Frankfort announces the engagement of her daughter, Cassie Denney Payton of Frankfort, to Jeff Wilson of Shelbyville. Her father is the late John C. Smith. He is the son of Rick and Susan Wilson of Shelbyville.

    She is a 1999 graduate of Franklin County High School and attended Sullivan University and is a deputy clerk for the Franklin County Courthouse.

    He is a 2000 graduate of Shelby County High School and works for Roll Forming Corporation.

    The wedding will be at 6 p.m. on May 25, 2013, at Red Orchard Park.

  • SCHS basketball Homecoming queen

    Shelby County High School crowned its basketball Homecoming queen Friday during the Rockets’ boys/girls doubleheader against Oldham County. Abigail Siegel was escorted by Jared Bentley.

  • Relay chili kickoff

    There were 16 entries in the Relay for Life cook-off, with more than 100 in attendance on Friday. Peggy Tschauner, county co-chair, (right) presents Teresa McKinley of McKinley’s Deli with the traveling trophy and prize basket for winning the judges’ choice for her pot of chili.

  • SCHS 1972 class reunion

    The Shelby County High School Class of 1972 reunion was at Lake Forrest Country Club in Louisville. The 40th reunion was celebrated by more than 70 class members. Check Facebook SCHS Class of ’72.

  • Birth: Brown son

    Chris and Jessica Brown of Shelbyville announce the birth of their son on Jan. 8, 2013 at Baptist Hospital East. He has been named William Robert Brown. Born at 12:52 p.m., he weighed 6 pounds and 3 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Todd and Joyce Bender of Brownsburg, Ind.; Jeff and Beth Brown of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparents are Bob and Ruth Ann Webb, Phil and Mary Bender, Jan Stull, Jim and Marie Proffitt.

  • Wedding: Kinsolving

    Melissa Susan Millerand Eric Burch Kinsolving of Murfreesboro, Tenn., were married Oct. 13, 2012, in Shelbyville.

    Parents of the bride are Susan Schendera Miller and Wilburn Miller Jr. of Nicholasville. The groom is the son of Paula Varney Kinsolving of Frankfort and Burch Kinsolving of Shelbyville.

    Rev. Josh Raybornofficiated the ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Wilburn Miller Jr.

    Honor attendants were Allison Taylor and Jenifer Noel.

  • Wedding: Chisholm

    Jona Luttrelland Josh Chisholm, both of Shelbyville, were married Aug. 25, 2012, at Highland Baptist Church in Louisville.

    Parents of the bride are John and Janet Luttrell of Shelbyville. The groom is the son of Lonnie and Donna Chisholm of Pleasureville and Toby and Royetta Wardrip of Louisville.

    Rev. Jim Cavender officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father.

    Maids of honor were Melissa Luttrell of Louisville and Lauren Luttrell of Shelbyville, sisters of the bride.

  • Birth: Cook daughter

    Dawn Renae Dixon and Chris Cook of Shelbyville announce the birth of their daughter on Dec. 12, 2012, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. She has been named Channing Noelle Cook. Born at 7:27 p.m., she weighed 7 pounds and six ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Tom and Bernice Dixon of Shelbyville), Larry and Cindy Roberts of Eastwood, Willie and Nadine Cook of Shelbyville.

    Great grandparents are Maggie Dixon of Cynthiana, Anna and Holbert Hearns of Frankfort, Geneva Cook of Shelbyville.

  • 60th anniversary: Quire

    John and Loretta Quire of Shelbyville have been married for 60 years and will celebrate their anniversary this week. They have five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. After retiring from General Electric, John Quire has continued to paint homes, and Loretta Quire is active in quilting, needlepoint and cooking for her large family every Saturday.

  • Eagle Scout award

    Justin Johnson of Troop 470 earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America on Dec. 11, 2012. Justin's eagle project was a construction project with the Kitty Cottage on 7th Street in Shelbyville. Justin is a sophomore at Collins High School and is the son of Bill and Laura Johnson of Shelbyville.
