  • Little Mr. and Miss compete at state fair

  • SCHS football homecoming court

    Shelby County High School named its football homecoming court this week. Seniors (seated, from left) Meranda Caswell, Ariana Jones, Heather Kirby, Samantha Orange, Abby Siegel and Brianna Taniges will vie for the crown, which will be awarded during halftime of the Rockets game against Henry County on Friday. The rest of the court is (standing, from left): freshmen Abby Wills and Sydney Wright, sophomores Sarah Durham and Cali Mills and juniors Kristyna Garrett and Kate Schaeffer.

  • Engagement: Jaggers-Hancock

    John and Elly Jaggers of Cropper announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Dawne Jaggers. to Brennen White Hancock. He is the son of Carrol Hancock of La Grange and Cindy and Bruce Dunaway of Bethlehem.

    She is a 2005 Shelby County High School graduate and a 2007 graduate from The Hair Design School. She owns Inspirations Salon in Shelbyville.

    He is a 2007 graduate of Henry County High School and attended college and is employed at Kentucky Utilities.

  • 60th anniversary: Paul and Anna Harvey

    Paul and Anna Harvey have been married for 60 years. The couple were childhood sweethearts and married on Sept. 9, 1952.

    They have resided in Henry and Shelby counties for the past 50 years.

    He is currently pastor at Crossroads Lighthouse Church, where he has served for more than 33 years. 

    They have two children, Wanda Satterly and Paula Armstrong, both of Shelby County; four grandchildren, Chrystal White, Renee Satterly, Keith Armstrong and Denise Heiner; and nine great grandchildren.

    4 generations of the Edmonsons family gathered recently. They are, (from left Wes Edmonson, Bill Edmonson of Shelby County, holding Oliver Wesley Edmonson, and Bryan Edmonson.

  • Jefferies-Fairfax wedding

    Cassie Jeffries and Ronnie Fairfax were married on Aug. 6 on Panama City Beach, Fla.

    The bride is the daughter of Rickie and Karen Jeffries of Mount Eden. The groom is the son of Roland and Virginia Fairfax of Louisville.

    The wedding was performed by Beach Weddings, etc.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father.

    Matron of honor was Kelly Cissell (sister of the bride). Maid of honor was Tamara Duvall. Bridesmaids were Megan Breitenstein and Deana Poore.

  • Mattingly wedding

    Kellie Hornback and Sean Mattingly of Louisville were married July 7, 2012, at the Mattingly Farm in West Point.

    Parents of the bride are Steve and Kathi Hornback of Shelbyville. The groom is the son of Lee and Pat Mattingly of West Point.

    Wedding music was provided by Chad Graham and Karsten Nelson, and Rev. Peter Mosher officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Steve Hornback.

    Sarah Walsh, friend of the bride, was matron of honor.

  • I'm one: Jayden Kent Smith

    Jayden Kent Smith celebrated his first birthday Sept. 27, 2012.

    He is the son of Amber and Jerome Smith of Simpsonville.

    Grandparents are Julie Brown of Simpsonville, Tim Brown of Louisville, Helen Clark and Beverly Clark, of Shelbyville and Janie and Bill Akins of Manson N.C. Great-grandparents are Shirley and Larry Vessels of Simpsonville and Janice and Glenn Brown of Louisville.

    Reece Harrod celebrated his first birthday on July 26, 2012.

    He is the son of Dawn and Mike Harrod, both of Shelbyville.

    Grandparents are Marsha James and Horace and Kitty Harrod, all of Shelbyville.
