• 50th anniversary: Kay and Ron Waldridge

    Kay and Ron Waldridge of Shelbyville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday. The couple was married in 1963 at Williamson W.Va., at the Baptist church.

    He is retired from his medical practice but continues to serve as medical director of Crestview and Masonic Home Shelbyville.

    She is the former Kay Varney and retired from teaching school.

    They are the parents of four sons, Ron Waldridge II (Lea), Jeff Waldridge (Beth), Chris Waldridge (Danni) and Chauncy Johnson (Amber). They have nine grandchildren.

    Trish and Glenn Simpson were married June 13, 2013, in Tennessee.

    Parents of the bride are Anthony Reynolds of Shelbyville and Patty Adams of Eminence. The groom is the son of Charles and Charolette Simpson of Eminence.

    Maid of honor was Paula Long of Shelbyville, the bride’s best friend.

    Bridesmaids were Maranda Medlin, Paige Peterson, both daughters of the bride.

    Best man was Leo Mason of Eminence.

    Groomsmen were Charles Simpson and Jared Simpson, the groom’s dad and son.

  • Birth: Poole son

    Heather Douthitt-Norton and Steven Poole of Shelbyville announce the birth of their second child, a son, on June 3, 2013, at Baptist Hospital East. He has been named Keagan LeeMichael Poole.

    He has an older brother, Kaleb and sister, Rheagan. Grandparents are Donna and Terry Douthitt of Shelbyville, and Michael and Darlene Murray of Bagdad, and Steve Poole of Pleasureville.

  • 50th anniversary: Charles Roe and Mary Ann Early

    Charles Roe and Mary Ann Early of Graefenburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Wednesday.

    The couple was married in 1963 by Rev. Grady Nutt at the Graefenburg Baptist Church parsonage.

    Charles Roe is retired from General Electric Louisville Appliance Park. She was the former Mary Ann Pullium and is retired from Shelby County Public School System Foodservice. 

  • 4-H chicken show winner

    16-year-old Katlynne Greer and her 12-week-old Banty Mille Fleur rooster, Apollo, took home two blue ribbons at the 2013 Shelby County Fair. This was her first show.

  • I'm one: Isaiah Michael Hudson

    Isaiah Michael Hudson celebrated his first birthday on June 5, 2013.

    He is the son of Chrissy and Chris Hudson of Shelbyville.

    Grandparents are Owen and Sue Bond of Cropper, Betty Hudson of Shelbyville and Lasca Kisslinger of Shelbyville, the late John “Tony” Hudson and the late Clarence "Clyde" McClain.

    Great-grandparents are Robert and Elizabeth Tipton of Waddy and Corine Shouse of Shelbyville.

  • Birth: Wiley son

    Timothy and Kayla Wiley of Shelbyville announce the birth of their second child, a son, on May 30, 2013 at North Suburban in Louisville. He has been named Conner Gayle Wiley. He was born at 5:58 p.m. weighing 8 pounds, 3.4 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. His older brother, Parker, is 2-years-old.

    Grandparents are Brenda Wiley, Gayle Wiley, Karla Riddle, James Riddle.

    Great-grandparents are John and Peggy McCray, Sue Riddle.

    Great-great grandmother is Bea Ford.

  • Birth: Williams son

    Tia Scott and Zane Williams of Shelbyville announce the birth of their second child, a son, on May 20, 2013 at Norton’s Suburban Hospital, Louisville. He has been named Zane Cortez Williams Jr.

    Grandparents are Judy Scott of Eminence, Judy Williams of Shelbyville, Zane Harris of Elizabeth and the late Richard Scott.

    Great-grandparents are Kenneth Clark of Eminence, June Scott of Muncie, Ind., Betty Harris of Shelbyville, Scotty and Minnie Williams of Shelbyville, the late Elizabeth Clark and the late Squire Scott.
