  • Engagement: Cape-Simmons

    Charles Claude Cape of Jamestown and Vivie Wills of Russell Springs announce the engagement of their daughter, Cara Lane Cape to Daniel “Winston” Simmons. He is the son of Charlie and Jena Simmons of Shelbyville and the late Mary Margaret Simmons of Louisville.

    She graduated from Russell County High School in 2001, and attended Campbellsville University for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees, majoring in social work on both occasions. She is employed at the Department of Public Advocacy in Frankfort.

  • Richardson’s celebrate 60th

    Burnice and Pauline Richardson celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28, 2014, at their daughter’s home surrounded by family and friends.

    She was the former Pauline Morris of Bardstown. He was the son of the late J.B. and Lorena Richardson. They met at her sister’s wedding in July 1954 and were married in Clarksville, Ind., on Dec. 28, 1954.

    He is a minister and farmer and she is a homemaker. The couple have three children, Danny Richardson, Ricky Richardson and Regina Newton, all of Shelbyville.

  • Special Christmas gift

    Tyler Williams, a fourth grader at Painted Stone Elementary, gave a special Christmas gift to the Shelby County Animal Shelter in memory of his late grandfather, Willie Cook. His love for animals gave Tyler the idea to make the donation this year as his way to give back to others.

  • Car Club delivers Christmas gifts

    Members of the Shelby County Car Club met at breakfast before making their annual deliveries of Christmas gifts. Several large bags were also given to Operation Care for the Women’s Shelter.

     

  • 50th anniversary: John Henry and Linda Leach

    John Henry and Linda Leach of Shelbyville were married on Jan. 9, 1965, in Louisville.

    He retired from the Kentucky Air National Guard in 1996 after serving 34 years. She has been a hairdresser for 50 years and is still working.

    They have one daughter Jamie Swindler (Jon) and two grandsons Jack and Henry.

    They will celebrate this special day with family and close friends.
