  • 50th anniversary: William “Bill” and Glenna White Stivers

    William “Bill” and Glenna White Stivers will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall of Graefenburg Christian Church, given by their son, Mark Stivers (Cindy) and daughter Lisa Smith (Brooke) and their grandchildren, Abby and Elise Stivers, Ethan and Adam Smith.

    They were married May 20, 1966 at Graefenburg Christian Church by the brides’ uncle, Robert Watson.

    Mike Grimes is in the process of putting a book together about Cropper and submitted this photo of the 1919 Cropper High School girls’ basketball team, courtesy of Kay Way, owner and operator of Our Best Restaurant in Smithfield. Her mother, Thelma Hundley Roberts, is on the far left. A young boy was “photo bombing” in the background.

  • Students receive first degree

    Students from the Shelby county FFA chapter received their first degree – the Greenhand. The 19 students were Justin England, Alexis Perry, Lillie Wood, Lexis Chadwell, Jessica Edington, Britney Cox, Paul Nethery, Cameron Brown, Zachary Delk, William Stivers and Jacob Cox. Students not pictured are Christopher Dean, Travis Allen, Brandon Colyer, Victoria Wilson, Renee Stohlmann,Tyler Redden, Brittany Pagel, Rae Deckert.

  • Scouts clean up trash

    In observance of Earth Day 2016, Boy Scouts of Troop 164, sponsored by 1st Presbytarian Church, picked up trash along Old Mount Eden Road. Robert Green is the Scoutmaster of the troop, aided by adult leaders Keith Johnson and Lee Muncy.
