Glenn and Carla Smith of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Smith to Derrick Bohannon. He is the son of Patty Smothers of Shelbyville and Roger Bohannon of Bagdad.

She is a 2005 graduate of Shelby County High School and is a leasing consultant in Jensen Beach, Fla. He is a 2003 graduate of Shelby County High School and graduate of Midland College in Texas. He is pursuing a career as a professional golfer.

The wedding will take place on April 27, 2013, in Vero Beach, Fla.

Carole Ann Wiecek and Gary Lee Penfold were married March 15, 2013.

Parents of the bride are Mary Helen Likes of Shelbyville and the late Robert T. Likes. The groom is the son of Jo Ellen Penfold of Chicago and the late Jack E. Penfold.

Phil Miller officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The couple were married in a private ceremony in their home in Waddy. In attendance were Haley Wiecek, daughter of the bride; Andrea Amyx, daughter of the groom; and Mary H. Likes, mother of the bride.

Chris and Ashley Sanders of Taylorsville announce the birth of their third child, a son, on April 4, 2013, at Norton Suburban in Louisville. He has been named Zachary Chase Sanders. He has two older siblings, Brianna and Cameron and was born at 7:29 a.m. weighing 6 pounds and 2 ounces.

Grandparents are Martin and Teresa Bruce of Waddy, David and Janice Cox of Shelbyville Chris Sanders Sr. of Cincinnati, Ohio and Wilson and Donna Cox of Slade City.

Irene and Logan R. Rice celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 17, 2013, at the Finchville Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. More than 100 were present for the occasion.

The couple was married on Feb. 14, 1953, by the late C.W. Elsey of the First Baptist Church. They have two children, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
