• 50th anniversary: The J. Howard Griffith

    The J. Howard Griffith and his wife, Linda L. Griffith, have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on June 7, 1964 in their home church in Fairmont, W.Va.

    He retired after 46 years in active ministry seven years ago. The last 21 years he served as Senior Minister of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville. 

    She retired after 20 years at Citizens Union Bank.

    The Griffiths have two children, Scott and Amy, and nine grandchildren.

  • Engagement: Ethington-Masters

    Thomas and Sandra Ethington of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Angelina Marie Ethington of Shelbyville to Frankie B. Wade Masters of Waddy. He is the son of Carol Palmer and Frankie Masters of Waddy.

    She works with the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

    He works with North Shelby Water Company.

    The wedding will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Guide Star Farm, 3489 Shelbyville Road in Shelbyville.

    All friends and family are invited.

  • Honoring local officers and firemen

    Crescent Place Assisted Living hosted a pancake breakfast on Sept. 11 for the Shelbyville police officers and firemen to thank them for their service and dedication to the community.

  • Downtown Shelbyville car cruise

    The Shelby County Car Club cruise of vintage vehicles were shown during the Downtown Street Party in Shelbyville Saturday. The next event will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 28 at Gallrein Farms.

    Mr. and Mrs. William Tevis Mills of Albany, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. James True Harmon III of Putney, Ga., announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter Jaymie Lynn Harmon of Albany, Ga., to Vernon Levoyd Musgrove III of Camilla, Ga.

    He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Ethridge of Baconton, Ga., and Vernon Levoyd Musgrove Jr. of Newton, Ga.

    She received her degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southwestern in 2011 and is teaching in Lee County, Ga.

    He received his certification from Albany Tech in 2013 and is working in Sasser, Ga.

  • Birth: Ball daughter

    Clint and Kristin Ballof Simpsonville announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville. She has been named Lailyn Nichole Ball.

    Grandparents are Fred and Lura Ball of Virginia Beach, Va., Donald and Amber Clem of Simpsonville. She has an older brother, Gavin Ball.

    Patty Royalty of Bardstown announces the engagement of her daughter, Nikki Kristen Satterly to Christopher Wayne Miller.

    He is the son of Wayne and Linda Miller of Shelbyville.

    They both work at Discover Home Loan in Louisville.

    The wedding will take place October 3, 2014 in Bardstown.

    Five generations of the Smith family gathered recently to celebrate the birth of grandson Branson Case. Ruby Lane, Judy Lane Smith and Scott Smith all live in Shelbyville.
