• Derby tea party at Crescent Place

    Crescent Place Assisted Living hosted a Derby Hat Tea Party for their clients and friends from the community. They sipped tea, ate delicious finger foods and sang My Old Kentucky Home.

  • Kiser wedding

    Kelsie Marie Ross and Matthew Blaine Kiser were married April 26, 2014 at Reynolds Farm in Bagdad.

    Parents of the bride are LaDonna and Brad Smith of Shelbyville and Charles and Serena Ross of Louisville. She is the granddaughter of Mike and Kathy Jones and Charlie and Reta Ross.

    The groom is the son of Kimberly and Tom Wright of Bagdad and Tim Kiser of Utah. He is the grandson of Patty and Joe Ellis and Sue Kiser and the late Bill Kiser; and brother of Marla Kiser.

  • Michael Long golf event

    Golfers participated in the 19th annual Michael Long Golf Scramble at the Shelbyville Country Club to generate donations for the Shelby Community Charities. The golf tournament drew 147 players and was followed by dinner, a live auction and karaoke entertainment, which was open to all golfers and the public. The auction brought in $14,724.50, with $1,329.50 going to Keaton McMurray, who is battling with cancer. The tournament was dedicated to him.

  • Crescent Place celebrates Earth Week

  • William Shannon celebrates 95th birthday

    William L. Shannon, born on April 25, 1919, leads the Phi Beta Kappa cheer – remembering his days at Washington and Lee University during a Shannon family concert on his 95th birthday weekend. The weekend also included a night of reminiscing with old pictures and scrapbooks as well as a question-and-answer session with Shannon about his 95 years on this earth. The Shannon Funeral Service staff also honored him with a gala dinner at Science Hill and an unveiling of the newly commissioned portrait of Shannon to be hung at the funeral home.

  • Turner appointed senior advisor

    Air Force Command Chief Master Sgt. William W. Turner (right) was appointed senior enlisted advisor for United States Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The 1985 graduate of Shelby County High School is the son of Wayne and Janet Turner of Shelbyville. General William E. Fraser III, commander, United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), passes the USTRANSCOM flag to new Command Chief Master Sergeant during a Mar. 28 USTRANSCOM Command Senior Enlisted Leader Change of Responsibility ceremony.

  • Engagement: Prather-Tingle

    Terry Prather and Janie Prather, both of Lancaster, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kasie Prather to Greggory Tingle. He is the son of Bryan Tingle and Deann Burk of Shelbyville.

    She is a graduate of St. Catharine College and is a special procedures tech at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon, Ill. He is also a graduate of St. Catharine College and is a sales representative for Ervin Equipment in Toledo, Ill.

    A November wedding is planned.
