  • Birth: Lydia Grace Prewitt

    Aaron and Melissa Prewitt of Pleasureville announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, on Oct. 25, 2013, at Decatur General Hospital in Decatur, Ala. She has been named Lydia Grace Prewitt.

    Grandparents are Ricky and Nancy Drawbaugh and Kenny and Lois Prewitt, all of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparents are Freeman and Dorothy Lyons of Pleasureville, Homer and Janice Clem of Athens, Ala., Willard and Betty Chesser of Bloomfield and Kenneth Prewitt of Shelbyville.

  • Burton graduates basic training

    Air Force Airman 1st Class Jeffrey D. Burton graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

    The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Christmas at Crescent Place

    Crescent Place Assisted Living celebrated the holidays with its annual friends-and family-Christmas party. Santa Claus stopped by and delivered gifts to all the residents.

  • Engagement: Carter-Willis

    Steve and Sharon Carter of Louisville announce the engagement of their daughter, Megan Carter of Louisville, to Nathaniel Willis of Shelbyville. He is the son of John and Parthanna Willis of Shelbyville.

    They graduated from the University of Kentucky and met while attending a Bible study at Southeast Christian Church.

    The wedding will take place at 5 p.m. on May 24, 2014, in Louisville.

  • Engagement: Hilbert-Seay

    Crystal Peach of Shelbyville and Jason Hilbert of Taylorsvilleannounce the engagement of their daughter, Katelyn Hilbert of Shelbyville, to William Seay of Shelbyville. He is the son of Shelia and Junior Seayof Shelbyville and the late Anna Marie Frazier.

    The wedding will take place at noon Dec. 21, 2013, at the Old Country Church in Mount Eden and will be officiated by the bride’s grandfather, Rev. Lonny Peach.

  • Christmas with the Monarchs

    The fabulous Monarchs kept the crowd entertained and on the dance floor during the seventh annual Spirit of Christmas Dance at the Shelbyville Country Club Lodge. The dance was a benefit for Corpus Christi Academy in Simpsonville.

     

  • 50th anniversary: James and Wanda Long

    James and Wanda Long have been married for 50 years. The couple were married on Jan. 3, 1964, at Elk Creek Baptist Church in Spencer County by the Rev. Jack Richardson.

    She is retired from the Shelby County Farm Service Agency, and he is retired from Brunswick Corporation.

    They have a son, Scott; daughter-in-law, Marsha; granddaughter Peyton; and grandson, Brandon all of whom live in Richmond.

    All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate their golden anniversary from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2014, at the Elk Creek Baptist Church.

  • Trowell graduates from basic combat training

    Army Pfc. Asia N. Trowell graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

    During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

  • 50th anniversary: Donnie and Rosie Holmes

    Donnie and Rosie Holmes of Southville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Dec. 21, 1963, in Tennessee.

    They have three children, Tammy Snider and her husband, Michael, Rhonda Collins and her husband, James, and Keith Holmes and his wife, Amy. They have been blessed with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

  • 50th anniversary: Herman and Peggy VanMeter Perry

    Herman and Peggy VanMeter Perry were married Dec. 21, 1963, at the Centenary Methodist Church in Shelbyville by Rev. Harold Mauney and Rev. William Hisle. They are retired.

    Their children, Sarah McGee and Chip Perry, will host a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Bagdad Ruritan Club for friends and family.
