  • Engagement: Dempsey-Maddox

    Linda and Bobby Jamison and Danny Joe Dempsey, all of Shelbyville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Crystal Ann Dempsey of Shelbyville, to Richard Scott Maddox of Louisville. He is the son of Christina Maddox of Louisville and John and Joyce Maddox of Richmond, Ind.

    She is a co-owner/groomer of Fuzzy Dog Salon LLC in Shelbyville. He is a Landscaper for Billingsely Lawn Care in Bagdad.

    The wedding will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2013.

  • Enagagement: Phillips-Morhet II

    Lisa and Ken Phillips of Simpsonvilleannounce the engagement of their daughter, Dawn Phillips of Louisville, to Keith Morhet II of Louisville. He is the son of Keith and Toni Morhet of Benton, Ill.

    She attended Faces by KLM Studio of Makeup Design and is a freelance makeup artist.

    He is received his degree in advertising at Murray State University and works with Anheuser Busch.

    The wedding will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 26, 2013, in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

  • Wedding: Ashley

    Shelia and Jamie Ashley were married June 1, 2013, at Waddy Christian Church.

    Parents of the bride are Betty and Robert L. Gaines of Waddy. The groom is the son of Rosie Ashley of Louisville and Sheila and Freddy Wirth of Louisville.

    Tina Glossin of Waddy Christian Church officiated the ceremony. A reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church.

    The couple went to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for a honeymoon and will reside in Louisville.

  • 50th anniversary: Sandra Bell and Hansel Hill Jr.

    Sandra Bell and Hansel Hill Jr. of Graefenburg have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on Sept. 20, 1963, at the Graefenburg Christian Church by Rev. George Watson.

    Their children are Angela Turton (Ralph) of Frankfort, Daymond Reed Hill (Jane) of Winter Garden, Fla.; and grandchildren are D.J., Lily, Bella, Emmy Hill and Tori Turton.

  • 50th anniversary: Phyllis and Roy Temple Jr.

    Phyllis and Roy Temple Jr. of Mount Eden have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on Sept. 21, 1963, in Mount Eden by the Rev. Bob Johnson.

    He is a farmer and pastor of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.

    She was the former Phyllis Walls and is retired from the health department.

    They will celebrate with their family.

    They have three children, Debbie Long, Paula Temple and Brian Temple, all of Mount Eden; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

  • Wedding: Mitchell

    Brittany Jean Bohannon and Michael Paul Mitchell were married May 18, 2013 at the Simpsonville Community Center gymnasium.

    Parents of the bride are Dana Adkins of Knoxville, Tenn., and Pete Bohannon of Southville. The groom is the son of Ruthie Cook of Shelbyville and Paul Mitchell of Lawrenceburg.

    Rev. Bill Taylor officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

    Maid of honor was Amanda Price of Shelbyville, sister of bride.

  • 30th anniversary: Chris and Katy Kleymeyer

    Chris and Katy Kleymeyer have been married for 30 years. The couple was married Sept. 10, 1983.

    They moved to Shelbyville in 2004 from Fort Knox when Col. Kleymeyer retired after 30 years as a military policeman, where he was the commander of the Fort Knox Military Police. He is now the director of training for the Department of Corrections in Kentucky’s Justice and Public Safety Cabinet.

    She is the former Katy C. Huntelmann, of Fort Mitchell and is employed at Bluegrass Checking in Shelbyville.

  • Engagement: Gilbert-Tolliver

    Sharon and James Gilbert of Mount Eden announce the engagement of their daughter, Sylvia Brooke Gilbert of Mount Eden, to Matthew Shane Tolliver of Waddy. He is the son of Rebecca and Henry Tolliver of Waddy.

    She works in the shipping department at The Recon Group. He is a signal designer at Railway Signal Systems.

    The wedding will take place at 4 p.m. on Sept. 21, 2013 at Old Country Church in Mount Eden.

    All friends and family are welcome.

  • Miss Heart of USA

    Tiffany Broughton, Miss Shelby County for 2013, won Miss Heart of the USA on Sunday. She will go to Orlando, Fla., in November to compete for a national title. This pageant’s platform is to stomp out hunger. She is the daughter of John and Candi Broughton, and her grandparents are Linda Payton of Pleasureville and Bill and Rose Broughton of Shelbyville. She will compete in January 2014 for Miss Kentucky County Fair.

  • Waddy class of ’52 reunion

    The Waddy High School class of 1952 celebrated its 61st reunion at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville. Members attending were (from left) Betty Jane Cook Nethery, Tommy Webb, Mitchell Nethery, Bobby Shouse, Maxine Rucker Shouse, Billy Gene Carpenter, Colleen Burke Nelson, Lois Milton Marston and Dove Rogers Quire.
