• 60th anniversary: Harold and Louise Goodlett Richardson

    Harold and Louise Goodlett Richardson, of Shelbyville, were married on Nov 18, 1954.

    He was born on May 12, 1936, one of 10 children of the late Orva and Corrinne Eakins Richardson. He was the owner of Harold’s Service Station in downtown Shelbyville, until it’s close in 1987. He is also a retired Shelby County school bus driver.

    She was born on Sept 2, 1938, one of eight children of the late John and Odie Redmon Goodlett.

  • Engagement: Murphy-Randolph

    Pat and Cindy Murphy of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Jill Murphy of Ft. Myers, Fla., to Robert Randolph of Naples, FL. He is the son of John Randolph and Anne Randolph of Naples, Fla.

    She is a 2012 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in Public Health. She currently works as a Public Health Associate for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

    He is 2012 graduate of the University of Virginia and works with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Naples, Florida.

  • Hays daughter

    Austin and Hannah Hays of Shelbyville announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, on Oct. 24, 2014 Norton Suburban Hospital. She has been named Rosie LeCompte Hays. She weighed 5 pounds and 11 ounces and has an older sister, Tate McKinley

    Grandparents are Hite Hays of Shelbyville, Judy and Duvall Burk of Shelbyville and Dennis and Yolanda Long of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparent is Shelby LeCompte from Shelbyville.

  • Fall Arbor day celebration

    Shelbyville Tree Board members and city workers celebrated the planting of a northern red oak tree on Main Street on Oct. 29 to celebrate a fall Arbor Day. David Wentworth (from left), Doug Satterly, Cecilia Piccini, Mayor Tom Hardesty, Jennifer Herrell, Jerry Aldridge, Tom McGinnis and Sara Huffman. The city Tree Board is replacing older trees that have died and ash trees killed by the emerald ash borer.

  • Hance wedding: Carol Lawrence and Jimmy Hance

    Carol Lawrence and Jimmy Hance were married Oct. 11, 2014, at their home in Pleasureville.

    Parents of the bride are Winston and Geneva Gentry of Jemison, Ala.

    The groom is the son of Gail Hance of Bagdad and the late John Roger Hance. 

    Kyle Wiley officiated the double ring ceremony.  Honor attendant was Leslee Bottorff of Louden, Tenn., best friend of the bride. Best man was John David Hance, brother of the groom and Tanner Seth Hance, son of the groom was ring bearer.

  • A Place to Sleep celebrates work, donations

    On October 25, more than 125 volunteers converged on First Presbyterian Church to sort through donations, count blankets, pillows and sheet sets, and eventually deliver beds and bedding to 40 children in Shelby County.

  • Walking to fight cancer

    The Cochran Family of Shelbyville organized the "Walk A Short Distance For Cancer," a cancer walk to honor loved ones in our community who lost their battle to cancer, specifically their son/brother Justin "Short" Cochran who passed away from cancer in 2003. Walkers gathered at Daniel Field and walked in a large group up washington street. The head coordinator of the event was Josh Cochran.

  • 80th birthday: Mary Marshall

    Mary Marshall of Shelbyville, a native of New Castle, celebrated her 80th birthday on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014. She will gather with her family and close friends Saturday for a dinner celebration.
