    More than 100 Shelby County Cub Scouts attended the Daniel Boone district annual day camp at Lake Shelby in June. One of the activities was for all the scouts to celebrate themselves.

  • Engagement: Medlin-Simpson

    Anthony Reynolds and Todd and Patty Adams, all of Shelbyville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Trish Medlin of Shelbyville, to C. Glenn Simpson of Eminence. He is the son of Charles and Charolette Simpson of Eminence.

    She is a 2010 graduate of Ata College and is a technician at Ficosa North America.

    He is a 1989 high school graduate and is a quality manager at Eminence Speaker.

  • Help for the Dempseys

    Crystal and Daniel Dempsey, with Harley, Nathaniel and baby Daryn, were the benefactors of a fundraiser event held Saturday night at Cropper Baptist Church. Daniel Dempsey, a resident of Finchville, received a lacerated liver, several broken ribs, and two fractured vertebrae and now has developed partial kidney failure as the result of an ATV accident. While recovering, he lost his job. The family’s friends arranged for food, a silent auction and a raffle, and the band Silver Wings donated its time for the event.

    Robert Lawrence of Florida and Carol Gentry Lawrence of Simpsonville announce the engagement of their daughter, Jen Lawrence, to James Bordelon, both of Nebraska. He is the son of Dale and Tina McDonald of Mississippi.

    The wedding will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 30, 2012 at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

  • Birth: Reed son

    Jason and Rebecca Reed of Shelbyville announce the birth of their second child, a son, on July 24, 2012 at Norton Suburban Hospital, Louisville. He has been named Jackson Tyler Reed.

    He was born at 8:40 p.m., weighing 5 pounds and 14 ounces, and was 20 inches long. He has a big brother, 2-year-old Joey.

    Grandparents are William and Carol Jackson of Smithfield, Glenn and Roxanne Reed of Louisville.

    Great-grandparent is Lela Jackson of Louisville.

    Great-grandparents are Betty Sue Shouse of Frankfort and James Bailey of Midway.
