    John and Lesley Shannon of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Cathryn Shannon of Simpsonville to Paul Wesley Penick of Louisville.

    He is the son of Paul and Tonya Penick of Louisville.

    She is a 2010 graduate of Shelby County High School and a 2014 graduate of Campbellsville University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She is currently employed by Monnington Farm in Simpsonville.

    Bethany Tipton and Bradley Andrew Childs were married Oct. 11, 2014 at the Olde Stone clubhouse in Bowling Green.

    Parents of the bride are Connie and Matthew Tipton of Russellville. The groom is the son of Mary Bradley and the late Ben Andrew Childs.

    Rev. Vincent James and Rev. Carl E. Whitfield officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Matthew Tipton.

    Madena Tipton, the bride’s sister, was the maid of honor.

  • 25th anniversary: David and Dana Jenkins

    David and Dana Jenkins will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elmburg Baptist Church. All friends and relatives are invited.

    The couple was married on Jan. 27, 1990, at Hempridge Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Boyd. They reside in Elmburg and have two children, Debra and Dakota Jenkins, both of Shelbyville.

  • BETA club adopts a grandparent

    Shelby County High School BETA club participated in adopt-a-grandparent on Dec. 19. They were split into groups, buying and handing out Christmas gifts to their specific grandparent. SCHS beta club will host a service project each month to better their school, community and nation.

    Charles Claude Cape of Jamestown and Vivie Wills of Russell Springs announce the engagement of their daughter, Cara Lane Cape to Daniel “Winston” Simmons. He is the son of Charlie and Jena Simmons of Shelbyville and the late Mary Margaret Simmons of Louisville.

    She graduated from Russell County High School in 2001, and attended Campbellsville University for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees, majoring in social work on both occasions. She is employed at the Department of Public Advocacy in Frankfort.

  • Richardson’s celebrate 60th

    Burnice and Pauline Richardson celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28, 2014, at their daughter’s home surrounded by family and friends.

    She was the former Pauline Morris of Bardstown. He was the son of the late J.B. and Lorena Richardson. They met at her sister’s wedding in July 1954 and were married in Clarksville, Ind., on Dec. 28, 1954.

    He is a minister and farmer and she is a homemaker. The couple have three children, Danny Richardson, Ricky Richardson and Regina Newton, all of Shelbyville.
