• Car Club delivers Christmas gifts

    Members of the Shelby County Car Club met at breakfast before making their annual deliveries of Christmas gifts. Several large bags were also given to Operation Care for the Women’s Shelter.


  • 50th anniversary: John Henry and Linda Leach

    John Henry and Linda Leach of Shelbyville were married on Jan. 9, 1965, in Louisville.

    He retired from the Kentucky Air National Guard in 1996 after serving 34 years. She has been a hairdresser for 50 years and is still working.

    They have one daughter Jamie Swindler (Jon) and two grandsons Jack and Henry.

    They will celebrate this special day with family and close friends.

  • 50th anniversary: Dennis and Wanda Stivers

    Dennis and Wanda Stivers will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 30, 2014.

    They were married on Dec. 30, 1964 in Gainesboro, Tenn.

    Dennis is retired from General Electric in Louisville with 41 years service. Wanda worked for Western Kentucky Gas in Shelbyville for 25 years, followed by four years at Katayama American and four years with Alcan Packaging.

    The couple have four children, Jeff Stivers of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brian Stivers of Shelbyville, Tracey Stivers of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Stacey Marovich of Erlanger.

  • Collins family receives check

    A check for $10,000 was presented to the Collins family to help with medical cost for their son Logan, who is battling Leukemia. Shelby County Community Charity hosted a charity event, Run For Logan Walk/Run. Presenting the check are Sandra Spaulding, treasurer (from left); Larry Montalto, president; Danielle Dixon, vice president; Josh Collins, father of Logan; Laura Collins, mother; Marcus Collins, brother; Shawn Willard, past president; Nathan Poole, board member and his wife, Courtney Poole. The two children are Kamden Willard and Harper Poole.

  • Galindo daughter

    Jaleesa Green and Elvis Galindo  of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Oct. 23, 2014 at Norton Suburban Hospital. She has been named Eriana Jiselle Galindo. She was born at 11:57 p.m., weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Anthony and Earlene Green of Simpsonville, Urivio and Erika Galindo of Shelbyville.

  • Crescent Place celebrates Christmas

    Crescent Place Assisted Living hosted the annual Family and Friends Christmas Celebration. The clients and families enjoyed the delicious food, shopping at the Bazaar and visiting with Santa Claus.   • Relay committee send Christmas cards

    The 2015 Relay for Life committee met at Marimbas to address about 100 Christmas Cards to send to team captains, survivors and caregivers. The group also had an ornament exchange.

  • 65th anniversary: Harry and Cora Mae Shely

    Harry and Cora Mae Shely will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014.

    The couple was married Dec. 10, 1949, in Jeffersonville, Ind., witnessed by his sister, Thelma, and her husband, Charles McGuire.

    He is retired from Bluegrass Mercury in Louisville after 26 years of service. She retired in 2000 from Shelby County Public Schools’ Wright Elementary School.

    The couple has two daughters, Janet Clifton of Carrollton and Regina Athey of Shelbyville. They have seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

  • Birth: Lafferty son

    Sam and Leslie Lafferty of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a son, on Nov. 25, 2014 at Baptist Health East. His name is William Davis Lafferty.

    Grandparents are Eddie and Brenda Mathis, Meme Lafferty, and Davis Lafferty, all of Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparents are Simon and Margaret Humphrey of Shelbyville.
