    The Waddy High School class of 1958 reunion was held on June 18.   • Welker-Wu wedding

    Daniel Benjamin Welker and Emma Wu (Wu Ya) were united in marriage on Saturday, June 18.

    The groom is the son of Vance and Trina Welker of Shelbyville.  The bride is the daughter of Wu Guihua and Ma Youchun of Luoyang, Henan, China.

    The wedding took place at The Fisherman’s Church in Xincheng, Henan, China. Pastor Yang Shulin officiated, with Lu Weibing assisting and Huang Xiaozhou translating.

  • 92nd birthday

    Bessie Chowning of Shelbyville will celebrate her 92nd birthday on July 28. She received a very special early birthday gift from her great-grandson, Logan Bailey. Bailey, a pilot who attends Embry Riddle University, took her for here first ever airplane ride. They flew over the city of Frankfort in his Cessna 172 to view the capital and then back to Shelby County over her family’s homes. After landing she told family member “I loved it.”

  • Engagement: Tejeda-Allen

    Mario and Maria Tejeda of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Karem Tejeda, 21, of Shelbyville, to Josh Allen, 25, of Shelbyville. He is the son of Edward and Angelina Allen of Shelbyville.

    The wedding will take place at 4 p.m., Aug. 6, 2016 at Shelby Hills Farm.

  • Fishing Derby for children

    The Guist Creek Marina and Campground hosted a Kid’s Fishing Derby for ages 1 to 15 in June and had more than 50 participants in the event. All fishers received a free T-shirt, hot dogs, lemonade, “fish” cookies and bait. A representative from Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife was there to supply poles and assistance where needed,
