  • Grandparents day at Cornerstone

    Cornerstone Christian Academy hosted one of their favorite annual family events – grandparents’ luncheon. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal, musical performances by preschool and elementary students, family photo booth area, and time of fellowship on campus with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


  • Birth: Way son

    Jon and Jennifer Way of Shelbyville announce the birth of their second child, a son, on Oct. 23, 2015 at Baptist East Louisville. He has been named Tripp Mattison Way.

    He has a 3-year-old brother, Mason. He was born at 5:23 p.m., weighing 8 pounds and 5 ounces and 20.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Charles and Brenda Reese of Simpsonville, John Way of Bagdad and Janice Way of Shelbyville. Great-grandparents are James and Patsy Jones, Leonard and Juanita Reese, Marian Gordon, Birdie Way.

  • 50th anniversary: Donna and Jerry Hedges in 1965

    Jerry and Donna Hedges of Frankfort have been married for 50 years. The couple was married on Nov. 19, 1965 in Waddy.

    They are the parents of Heather Hedges of Frankfort, Allison (Doug) Stone of Lexington, Kylie Jones of Frankfort. They have three grandchildren, Jack and Georgia Kate Stone of Lexington, and Peyton Monroe of Frankfort.

    They will celebrate from 2 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 21 at Bridgeport Christian Church, 175 Evergreen Road in Frankfort. All friends and relatives are invited.

    The couple requests no gifts.

  • Joy Wynette Heflin celebrated her first birthday

    Joy Wynette Heflin celebrated her first birthday on Oct. 23, 2015.

    She is the daughter of Eugene and Julie Heflin of Mount Washington.

    Grandparents are Wayne and Colleen Heflin of Bagdad, Jean Goodwin of Mount Washington and the late Mitchell Goodwin.

  • Armed Forces: Moore graduates basic training

    PFC Hunter L. Moore of Shelby County graduated from Marine Corps basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina. He graduated Oct. 17 from MCT at Camp Geiger in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Out of 423 Marines, he was awarded honor graduate and continues his technical training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla. He is the son of Mark and Jennifer Bentley Moore of Shelby County, and grandson of Clarence and Delours Moore of Garrison, and Don and Judy Bentley of Mount Eden.

    Bill and Randy Gallrein of Gallrein Farms donated flowers that were planted at The Shelbyville Fountain.

  • Smither wedding

    Stephanie Peach and John Smither were married Sept. 26, 2015 at Mulberry Orchard in Shelbyville.

    Parents of the bride are Linda Sue Smith of Shelbyville and Robert Chandler of Summerville, SC. The groom is the son of Johnna Kaye and Joey Griffith of Cropper, and Eddie and Marsha Smither of Frankfort.

    Rev. Dan Taylorofficiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by Chucky Heath, brother of the bride and family.

    Maid of honor was Tanya Miller of Shelbyville, sister of the bride.

  • 75th birthday

    Sherman Temple of Graefenburg will celebrate his 75th birthday on Monday.

    Celebrating with him will be his wife, Ann Temple; children, Donna Maness (Rick) of Lawrenceburg, Doris Cook (Mike) of Mount Eden, and David Temple (Lisa) of Frankfort; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

    They are members of Graefenburg Baptist Church in Graefenburg.
