  • 25th anniversary: Todd and Christal Armstrong

    Todd and Christal Armstrong of Shelbyville have been married for 25 years. The couple were married on June 4, 1989 and renewed their vows on June 4, 2014, on the beach of Siesta Key in Florida with their daughter, Cara Armstrong; son, Matthew Armstrong; daughter-in-law, Toni Benskin; and grandson, Lucas Armstrong.

    He has been a rail loader for RCS Transportation for 16 years.

    She has been a financial analyst for Ricoh for 21 years.

  • Cub Scout day camp

    The Lincoln Heritage Council, Daniel Boone District, had Cub Scout day camp at Clear Creek Park. Mayor Tom Hardesty and representatives from several local agencies (police, fire, public works, etc.) came to have lunch with the scouts. The Cub Scouts had just been sprayed with water from both city and county fire departments, so Hardesty (center in front row) got a bit wet in the photo.

  • 15th anniversary: Don and Karen Lisby

    Don and Karen Lisby of Finchville have been married for 15 years. The couple was married on July 2, 1999 at Gallrein Farms.

    He is self-employed as a custom homebuilder and she is an office manager for Kentucky One Health Cardiology Associates.

    They are the parents of Krista Brown of Pleasureville, Matt Lisby of Owensboro, Naven Brown of Sturgis, Lauren Lisby of Finchville and John Lisby of Finchville and have six grandchildren.

  • 60th anniversary: Kenneth and Ethel Terrell

    Kenneth and Ethel Terrell have been married for 60 years. The couple was married on July 27, 1954 in Simpsonville.

    They have four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

    They will celebrate from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday with a picnic reception at the home of Gerald Terrell. Dinner will be served starting at 4 p.m. All friends and family are invited. RSVP no later than Thursday at 633-1097 and for directions.

  • Sgt. Elliott received medal

    Army Sgt. Major William E. Elliott (right) received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Elliott, an Army field band musician, was awarded the medal by Col. Timothy Holtan, Army field band commander, at Fort George G. Meade, Md. Elliott is a 1982 graduate of Shelby County High School and earned an bachelor's degree in 1987 from the University of Kentucky.

    He is the son of Timothy and Kayla Wiley of Shelbyville and has an older brother, Parker.

    Grandparents James and Karla Riddle and Gayle and Brenda Wiley, all of Shelbyville; great-grandparents are John and Peggy McCray of Middletown and Sue Riddle of Eastwood.
