    On Saturday, Aug. 9, the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea will offer visitors free guided tours through the center’s gallery exhibit, “Repurposed & Recycled: Works by Kentucky Artisans,” and the lobby exhibit, “Kentucky Bourbon: Distillation and Inspiration.”

    Film director/producer Jerry Bruckheimer will be signing copies of Michael Singer’s book “Jerry Bruckheimer: When Lightning Strikes – Four Decades of Filmmaking” at Nettie Jarvis Antiques/The Old Sugar Valley Country Store, 111-113 Taylorsville Road, in Bloomfield. The event will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 5, and refreshments will be served.

    Thirteen Kentucky museums are offering free admission to active military members and their families this summer as part of the Blue Star Museums initiative. The window for free admission runs through Labor Day, Sept. 1.

    The Kentucky Arts Council is accepting applications through June 15 from schools and school districts interested in having a consultant assist in developing plans and assessment tools for integrating the arts across the curriculum.

    Quilt show during Bagdad Day

    A quilt show will be held in conjunction with Bagdad Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of Bagdad Baptist Church. The show will include demonstrations throughout the day and an opportunity to quilt on a frame.     The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea invites Kentucky artisans to submit works for the exhibit “Put a Lid on It: Containers by Kentucky Artisans” to be held Sept. 13, 2014 through Feb. 28, 2015.
