Shelby Artists on Main, in its ninth year in downtown Shelbyville, has introduced its newest addition, Pati Wright, a stained-glass artist who is being featured this month at The Gallery at SAOM.
Originally from Louisville and growing up primarily in Taylorsville, Wright lives in Shelbyville, and her stained-glass artwork can be seen in front window of Shelby Artists on Main.
Her interest in stained glass stemmed from time spent with her aunt in the Highlands in Louisville, where she was surrounded by many pieces of the various types of art glass in the homes there.
Those residences showed many colors and patterns that inspired Wright to study under Lynne Baker, a glass artisan from Tennessee.
She has been a part of the Gallery since October 2012, and during the Christmas season she offered an array of ornaments and other decorations.
She said she commissions all types of artwork, such as large window pieces, fireplace screens, coal grates, ornaments and one-of-a-kinds based on any individual desire. She plans to launch a line of lamps.
“No project is too small or too scary,” she said.
Wright will hold a drawing at the end of January to win a spring floral piece.
The gallery, at 617 Main Street, is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
