Shelby County's Candice Wiley remains in the top five through nine holes in the second round of the Girls' State Golf Tournament at Bowling Green Country Club Wednesday.
Wiley had a chance to make a move after a birdie on No. 7 pushed her to 2-under for the round and 1-under for the tournament, but back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 8 and 9 pushed her back to even for the round and 1-over for the tournament. She finished the front nine tied for fourth.
Rounding out the rest of the SCHS team is Michaela Manley with a solid 7-over on the front nine, Shannon Harover with a 12-over through nine and a surprising run from sixth grader Madison Thomas with a 13-over on the front.
The tournament was delayed Tuesday, and many of the teams were forced to finish the first round Wednesday morning. The teams and individuals that made the cut will play until dark, and play will resume Thursday morning at 7:45 a.m. CDT. The team and individual champions will be awarded then.
