What congratulate: Another great day for men’s health

-A A +A

Free clinic is spectacular service to community.

Another Men’s Health Fair has passed at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, and this year’s affair was better attended than its 11 predecessors.

Hundreds of men flocked for hundreds of dollars of free medical screenings that ultimately  could save or extend their lives, and in so doing they were the beneficiaries of one of the great services provided to our community.

Shelby County Magistrate Tony Carriss has been the spiritual leader of this event, using his personal battle with prostate cancer as the impetus for inspiring others to volunteer and participate in this event.

But we also are thankful that Jewish Hospital, in view of its new ownership structure, has remained stalwart in providing facilities and the participation of physicians and staff to help hundreds be a bit healthier.

We sometimes can be quick to criticize an aspect of our community that is underperforming.

Let us be equally fast in saying thanks to an organization that is exceeding our expectations for service.
