Weekend celebration taking shape

There are now more than 70 booths signed up for this year's Celebration of Lights in downtown Shelbyville, which will run 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Traffic will be blocked off at 8th Street and diverted to Henry Clay Street or over to Washington Street. Streets will be blocked for setup at 4 p.m.

5 p.m. - Clear Creek Elementary performs, led by Stephanie Stevens

5:20 - Shelby Christian Church's Sweet Spirit Chorus performs

5:40 - Shelby Christian Church's Blue No More gospel group performs

6:00 - A1 Karate demonstration

6:20 - East Middle School Chorus performs, led by Nancy Cheek

6:30 - Welcome messages by Mayor Tom Hardesty, County Judge Rob Rothenberger and other guests - as well as the lighting of the Christmas tree and lights downtown.

7:00 - Painted Stone Elementary chorus performs

7:20 - Stubblefield Radio Club will be holding a drawing

7:30 - Eileen Collins will announce winners of Christmas Downtown Window Decoration contest

7:40 - Cheer America cheerleading group performs

8:00 - Cornerstone choir performs, led by Maralyn White

8:20 - Hands for Christ performs, by Lebanon Baptist Church

8:30 - Commonwealth Bank and Main St. Bikes will hold a drawing for two childrens bicycles

8:40 - Hands for Christ sings again

9:00 - Street reopens
