We congratulate: New owners of bowling alley

We were glad to see that real estate professionals Larry Rogers and Donald Hamilton have stepped forward to purchase at foreclosure the former Bluegrass Bowling Center.

We’re pleased that this valuable piece of property is in the hands of men who have been dedicated to the development of Shelby County.

But they – and all of us – need your help.

Mr. Rogers has said he would like to see the facility remain a bowling alley but that he and Mr. Hamilton do not have the expertise to make that happen.

“We would need a partner,” Mr. Roger said.

And we hope that in Mr. Rogers’ neighborhood someone will step forward to partner with Mr. Hamilton and him to ensure that Shelby County has an active and viable bowling center.

Our residents need more recreation options – our obesity rates are shocking – and though bowling is not on par with running, swimming or cycling, it is at least an activity that can help improve an individual’s health.

So who among you will take the first frame, roll the first ball and collect the first strike for Shelby Countians?

We need to have a bowling facility. And Mr. Rogers and Mr. Hamilton need you to make that happen.
