Another month has brought another really good idea to help the people of Shelby County get in better physical shape.
We speak, of course, of the plan under way to add adult exercise stations to the trails in Red Orchard Park. What a valuable and wonderful new tool this would be to fight the obesity that is consuming our population.
By adding some muscle-strengthening options to a wonderful walk through nature, Shelby County Parks & Recreation is placing emphasis where it belongs – providing an attractive option to stay fit.
This follows the dream to link trails between Clear Creek and Red Orchard Parks, a plan to build a bike/pedestrian lane as part of the widening project for KY 53 South (Mount Eden Road) and the concept of improving the sidewalks along North 7th Street from downtown Shelbyville to Clear Creek Park.
We continue to be advocates for all opportunities to reach out and provide physical fitness choices to our residents.
We understand that our residents must except and use them for our goals for a fitter community ultimately to be met.
But at least our parks leaders are “exercising” their best ideas.
We thank Bridwell Terhune for taking on this new project at Red Orchard. We encourage you to join his one-man band.
