Western Kentucky University junior and former SCHS AquaRocket Emily Waits was named the Most Outstanding Diver at the Sun Belt Conference Swimming and Diving Championship in Nashville.

After placing fourth in the preliminary round, Waits bounced back to win the one-meter competition with 249.15 points. She also finished fourth in the three-meter competition with a score of 234.35.

Her scores helped push the Lady Toppers to the Sun Belt championship.

Waits graduated from Shelby County in 2005 and, after starting in the sixth-grade, she competed for the AquaRockets for seven years.
