The Triple S Planning Commission had a very brief special called meeting on Thursday at Shelbyville City Hall to address the division of the Payne Farm, an 85-acre parcel zoned Agricultural on Rockbridge Road.
The request to divide the property into five lots, including one with the current home, was approved with no discussion.
The reason for a special called meeting was because no one was available at the commission’s meeting on May 21 to answer questions posed by four adjacent property owners in attendance.
The surrounding property owners questioned the addition of four new driveways on the area of Rockbridge Road and what would happen if the property were to be sold at auction before it was approved for division.
At the May meeting, Triple S Executive Director Ryan Libke told the neighbors that if the property was sold, it could not be closed on until a decision was made. The property was scheduled for auction on June 8.
As for the driveway connections, the plat had all the necessary signatures, including one from County Road Supervisor Carl Henry, which would allow the driveway connections. Libke noted that the request did not warrant a traffic study. No neighbors attended Thursday’s meeting.
Triple S will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for its regular monthly meeting.
