Three people were arrested April 17 in a drug bust at a local horse farm that yielded 65 pounds of marijuana, according to Kentucky State Police.
Three males, Geronimo Cardenas, 28, Octavio Salazar, 23, and Jorge Salazar, 34, all of Shelbyville, were charged with trafficking in marijuana over five pounds and tampering with physical evidence, said KSP Trooper Ron Turley.
The bust was the culmination of a drug investigation headed up by Post 12 of Frankfort. On Thursday, April 17, Kentucky State Police Special Operations, KSP Canine and Post 12 troopers, conducted a controlled delivery of the pot, Turley said. Turley explained that a controlled delivery means that police take possession of the drugs and then deliver it, acting as the person who is supposed to be selling the drugs.
Turley said the bust was made at Pleasant View Horse Farm in the 10000 block of Shelbyville Road.
He added that KSP will be working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to get the three men deported since they are allegedly in the United States illegally.
The three were lodged at the Shelby County Detention Center.
