A teen is recovering from a gunshot wound he received New Year’s Eve, police say.
View MapShelbyville Police Chief Danny Goodwin said that on New Year’s Eve, police were dispatched to 116 Berea St. at 4:42 p.m. after receiving a call about a possible shooting.
“We had a male juvenile who was shot and was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, and it is currently under investigation,” he said. “That’s all I can say at this time.”
The victim’s name is being withheld because he is a juvenile, Goodwin said.
The age of the teen also limits what he can say about the incident, Goodwin said.
Goodwin said that the 17-year is not thought to be badly injured.
“All gunshot wounds are pretty serious, but we believe he has sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” he said.
Goodwin said there has been no arrest made in the case at this time.
