Because of the ejection of head coach Phillip Conder in the Feb. 1 loss to Western Hills, Collins girls’ basketball assistant coach Charlie Matthews got the assignment of stepping in and leading the team against 30th District foe Spencer County on Friday evening.
For some added pressure, Matthews was without one of the Titans’ better players, senior forward Katie Vogel, who was participating in a singing competition.
