Volleyball Summer League

Titans Volleyball All Skills Kids Camp
The Collins volleyball team is offering an all-skills kids camp for girls ages 7-14 from 9 a.m. until noon May 12 and May 19 at the Titans’ gym. Cost is $50, which includes a camp T-shirt. Deadline is May 4. The two-day camp will focus on developing skills in all aspects of the game. Campers will be divided by skill and placed in groups where they will improve and be challenged. Serving, passing, attacking, defense, blocking, setting, team transition and team competition will be taught throughout the camp. Campers will be given all the resources they need to take their game to the next level. This camp is designed for players of all skill groups. Players with experience will train like a Titan Volleyball player, and be shown how to incorporate these techniques into their game. Younger players with little, or no experience, will learn volleyball basics and will quickly develop a love for the game. The camp will be stretched over two days, one day for training and skill practice, and the other, for tournament play. 2012 Jim Wiley Baseball Camp
The 2012 Jim Wiley Baseball Camp will take place June 5-8 at Clear Creek Park. The camp, for ages 7-18, will be held from 9 a.m. until noon daily. Cost is $40 per camper or $70 for two campers. Camp highlights include individual instructions from Jim Wiley, an associate scout for the New York Yankees and coach of Shelbyville American Legion baseball team; Roy Bailey, a former player in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, the Shelbyville American Legion pitching coach and the head coach at Collins; Kyle Wiley, a former shortstop for the University of Southeastern Louisiana; and Donnie Williams, the former coach at Shelby County High. Campers, who will be grouped according to age and ability, will be taught proper fundamentals and also receive a t-shirt. In case of bad weather the camp will be moved to an indoor facility. Summer instructional b-ball camp
First Baptist Church is having a summer instructional basketball camp June 5-8. Cost is $55 if paid and registered by May 18 and $65 after May 18. The times for the camp are: children entering grades 1-5, 9 a.m. to noon; children entering grades 6-10, 1-4 p.m. The camp will be led by former Cornerstone Christian Coach Chris Armstrong, Paul Smith “The Basketball Doctor,” Taylor University women’s coach Tena Krause and other college coaches. This year’s special guest will be former University of Kentucky star Jeff Sheppard. The camp will focus on individual instruction, offensive moves, ball handling proper shooting techniques, passing and agility. Each session will be limited to the first 70 campers that sign up. Weissinger Hills extends season-pass offer
Weissinger Hills Golf Course has extended its discounted season passes. The season pass offers include individual weekday with, and without, a cart, and individual 7-day passes with, or without, a cart. There are also family passes and junior passes available. Golfers can choose to pay half now for the passes, and the other half by May 1, but the discounts would not be applicable. Discounted range passes are also available. Although not a membership, a season pass does allow the holder to make tee times two weeks in advance. Applications are also now being taken for Weissinger Hills Golf Association memberships. This membership provides USGA Handicapping, monthly tournaments, Wednesday night league play, special activities throughout the season and an annual awards banquet.
