Marilyn Johnson Hertz, a Simpsonville native, got her start in art by making fishing lures with her father and sewing with her mother. But it wasn’t until after she married that she started to take off commercially in several different mediums.
As a child growing up in Simpsonville, Marilyn Johnson always knew she wanted to be an artist, even before she got her first easel and oil paints when she was 12 years old.
