Two Shelby County women completed the Boston Marathon a year after the prestigious race was marred by bombings.
Amy Kendall of Shelbyville and Rhonda Braden of Fisherville completed the 26.2-mile course Monday in New England.
Kendall covered the course in 3 hours, 35 minutes and 35 seconds to finish 11,006th overall, 2,939th in her gender and 2,113rd in her division. Kendall also finished the race last year before the bombings near the finish line.
Braden finished in 3:55.53, placing her 16,972nd overall, 6,307th in her gender and 939th in her division.
Kendall and Braden were two of the 142 finishers from Kentucky.
Rita Jeptoo of Kenya won the women's marathon in a record time of 2 hours, 18 minutes, 57 seconds.
