Shelby Countian Chris Kovacs got a treat earlier this month when he was awarded the chance to run in the New York City Marathon.
"If you're a long distance runner the New York marathon is a must do," he said. "It's the pinnacle."
Kovacs was the only Shelby County runner, and one of a relative few from Kentucky, that got the chance to run in one of the most popular races. About 39,000 runners took part in the race, plus, the city hosted the Olympic marathon trials the day before, making the weekend the biggest marathon weekend ever.
