The U.S. government announced this week that the country is officially in a recession -- that's the bad news. The good news is that Shelby County is doing much better than most in the state at riding out the current economic storm.
According to statistics for October released on Wednesday by the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, Shelby County had one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state and the lowest among all the counties in the region.
