Late last year Shelby Energy Cooperative filed for a rate increase that could go into effect this summer.
Customers of Shelby Energy have had rate increases in the past, but according to President and CEO Debbie Martin the increases have not been for Shelby Energy.
“We haven’t had a rate increase that financially helped Shelby Energy since 1983,” she said. “The rate increases we’ve had have been for our supplier, East Kentucky Power.”
